s the UK and Ireland distributor for the MWM engine range, the Edina Group is a market leading supplier of power generation equipment to waste and anaerobic digestion plants and combined heat and power applications. MWM engines have a proven track record and are renowned for leading electrical efficiency and reliability. Edina supplies the UK, Ireland and Australasia. The range offered is suitable for CHP and AD and has been successfully installed for large manufacturers who wish to cut costs, emissions and have greater control over future energy security and expenditure. This is achieved either by powering their premises with CHP from natural gas, turning waste to energy with AD, or a combination of the two. The options of steam production and cooling are also attractive.

Chevron promotes gas engine reliability and performance at UK AD & Biogas 2015 Providing customers with products and services which enhance their commercial advantage through equipment efficiency and reliability underlines Chevron Lubricants’ commitment to the AD & biogas sector. Exhibiting at UK AD & Biogas for the second year, Chevron Lubricants will be promoting the benefits of its HDAX family of highly resilient Group II premium base oil formulations for advanced technology gas engines, sold throughout Europe under the Texaco brand. With gas engine reliability key to business profitability and success, HDAX products are designed to offer high performance component protection with the oxidation stability and resistance required for reliable, low maintenance engine performance and optimal system uptime. The Texaco HDAX Extended Life Coolant XLC product for example has been fleet tested for in excess of 40,000 hours. Thus ensuring that the coolant offers maximum protection against freezing, boiling and cooling system corrosion including high temperature corrosion found in modern aluminium engines. For further information on products and services please contact paul.salter@chevron.com or visit the team on stand J101 during the show.

Smaller scale solutions are just as effective and have been part of many anaerobic digestion plants. Feedstocks often combine agri-crop, food waste and animal slurry. Edina has been involved with some of the first plants gaining RHI accreditation. Pioneering projects have included biogas and engine exhaust gas clean-up, which delivers extra CO2 to greenhouses (for a tomato growing enterprise) and digestate drying to create a product that can be used for animal bedding. Edina has the experience to advise on the integration of the equipment based on client need to operate a successful plant and maximise the potential of Feed in Tariffs and the Renewable Heat Incentive. Edina can offer a complete turnkey system and then provide full on-going operation and maintenance. Exhibiting at UK AD & Biogas 2015, the premier event in the biogas calendar, gives us the opportunity to catch up with existing clients and make new contacts. This year the R&D Hub promises even more variety with the biomethane vehicle area also proving very popular. We are delighted to show our support for the industry as headline sponsors of the event this year and we very much hope to see you there!

Membrane technology goes global Conventionally, biogas has been turned into electricity right where it is produced. Only as much as 40% of the energy content can be used as electricity, however. If the gas is fed into the grid, more than 90% of the energy content can be used. An extensive purification process is required before biogas is fed into the natural gas grid. Conventional upgrading plants are usually cost-effective only for raw biogas quantities in excess of 500m3 per hour (Nm3 /h). This usually makes them unsuitable for relatively small plants. Evonik lndustries (Germany) has developed a next generation membrane technology for costand energy-efficient separation of C02 to overcome this disadvantage. SEPURANÂŽ Green membranes are made from a high-performance polymer with high temperature and pressure resistance. The membrane has the property of distinguishing effectively between methane and CO2, allowing the raw gas to be purified to more than 97% methane. The CO2 molecules are smaller than the methane molecules and also more soluble in the polymer. Consequently, they pass through the micropores of the membrane much faster. SEPURANÂŽ Green offers high plant availability and has both low energy requirements and maintenance costs. Moreover, the flexibility of the process makes it applicable for small and large plants. Today, more than 30 plants are operating, in construction, or in process of planning worldwide.

Uponor pre-insulated pipe systems are reliable, high-quality products, not least proven by over 30 million metres of pipe already installed worldwide. They are the only choice for the economical transport of hot and cold fluids for domestic, commercial and agricultural applications. Besides excellent insulating efficiency, our lightweight pre-insulated pipes offer flexibility, ease of installation and a service life in excess of 25 years. Uponor is a leading international provider of plumbing and radiant heating and cooling solutions for agricultural, residential and commercial building markets across Europe and North America.
