EXHIBITOR UPDATE

Total Show comes home to PPMA The UK’s premier processing and packaging machinery and packaging materials exhibition, the PPMA Total Show, returns to the Birmingham NEC this September – and it’s aiming to be bigger and better than ever! Formerly the Total Processing and Packaging Exhibition, the PPMA Total Show 2016 is now under the sole ownership of the PPMA. And preparations are well underway for making this year’s event one to remember after the success of last year’s PPMA Show.

2015 event most successful PPMA Show in recent history More than 7,500 visitors walked through the doors of the NEC at the PPMA Show 2015, with over 1,000 leading packaging and processing machinery manufacturers showcasing the latest technological innovations. Highlights included speeches from prominent figures across the manufacturing industry, including former Sainsbury’s CEO Justin King and Lord Digby Jones, former Minister of State for Trade and Investment, who opened the show. Also a hit with visitors was the robotic and industrial vision zone, which demonstrated inventive and quirky uses of robotic technology including robots that could dance, pour drinks and even play golf.

PPMA Total Show moves to September and expands its focus It’s certainly a hard act to follow, but this year, the PPMA Total Show has been expanded to include design and materials, and is expected to attract an even wider range of visitors. Taking place every three years and incorporating three major exhibition brands – PPMA, Pakex and Interphex – the event has moved from June to September to coincide with the annual PPMA Show. Do you have something you want to see on the big screen? Contact us at operations@ppma.co.uk We’re also inviting companies to sponsor PPMA TV. This involves regular adverts throughout the show, as well as appearing on the big screen mounted above the PPMA stand. Opportunities are limited so contact tom.fisher@ppma.co.uk asap for more information.

How to succeed in the PPMA awards One of our long-standing PPMA judges gives their advice on how to make sure your entry for the PPMA Group Industry Awards 2016 packs a punch and proves a hit with the panel! “The first thing to remember is that the judges are seasoned professionals who have been in the business a long time – so don’t just regurgitate old press releases or entries and expect them to be successful! Many judges use a scoring system for the individual elements of each award, so it’s important that you address each element for completeness. Finally, make sure your website tells the same story as your application. Judges will often visit websites to collect more information, only to find that a machine does not appear.”

Key points to remember: 1. Assume the judges know nothing about your entry – be clear. 2. If you are claiming a new machine or innovation, it must be new. 3. What are the benefits? Try to look at this from your customer’s point of view. 4. How important is your achievement to the market as a whole? Winning entries usually have a major market impact. 5. Back up high growth or export achievements with numbers that show a solid trend.
