On behalf of the Parents Association we would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to Jill Belardi, Maureen Brackett and the 8th Grade Girl Scouts for hosting a very successful Parent's Association Spaghetti Dinner. PARENT CHAT FOR 7TH & 8TH GRADE PARENTS PPI is sponsoring a Parent Chat with Jeff Wenzler on Wednesday, May 16th at 7pm at Steffen Middle School. The presentation, "Healthy Directions; How to Guide Young People to Make Informed Choices", is a follow-up to the presentation that Jeff Wenzler had with our 7th & 8th grade students on April 20th. NEWCOMERS MEMBERS NEEDED The Newcomers committee is looking for new members. There are 2 different roles that you may serve in as a member of this committee and both are very fun AND easy, with a minimal time commitment. The first is a Buddy Family, and in this role you serve as a mentor to a new family, get to know them, and serve as a resource if they have questions. You would be paired with a new family that has similar age kids. This is an excellent role for those families that are relatively new to Lumen Christi themselves. The second role is an Ambassador and in this role you give tours during the Open House (with a cheat sheet, of course!) and help to host prospective family events. This is a great role for the more "seasoned" parents who have a lot to share about their experience at Lumen Christi. If your school group hopes to have a bake sale, cookie sale, collection for the needy, or any other kind of fundraiser next year, please fill out a Fundraiser Request form which can be found on the parish website under “Stewardship”. SAVE THE DATE! RACE TO NOWHERE SCREENINGS Lumen Christi will sponsor two screenings of "Race to Nowhere" on Tuesday, May 22nd, in St. James Hall at the Mequon campus. The 85-minute movie will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Babysitting by our 8th grade Girl Scout troop will be offered for the evening showing. The documentary explores the extreme amounts of stress experienced by students as they face the demands of school, college admissions and extracurricular activities. RAINBOW OLYMPICS We are in need of volunteers to help out at Rainbow Olympics, Thursday, May 17, (Rain Date: Thursday, May 24) at the Lumen Christi Mequon Campus! Approximately 30 volunteers total will be needed in one to two hour shifts in the morning (8:30am - 10am), around lunch (10:30am - 12:30pm) and clean up just after lunch (12:30pm - 1:30pm). Dave Archibald will be presenting Blessed Pope JP II's Theology of the Body, a summary of the church's life-giving teachings on love, marriage, and sexuality on
Monday, May 7th at 7:00pm in St. James Hall in Mequon. Dave Archibald has been a member of the Theology department at Marquette University High School since 2005, where he has primarily taught Church History. Dave also coaches the special teams and wide receivers at NCAA Division III Wisconsin Lutheran College. Dave graduated from St. Norbert College in 2003 with a BA in Religious Studies, and he earned a Master of Education Degree from the University of Notre Dame in 2005. He recently completed a Masters in Christian Doctrine at Marquette University in April of 2012. Dave and his wife, Jennifer, are the parents of two boys, Timothy and Matthew. They are active members of St. John the Evangelist parish in Greenfield.
