In celebration of the National Women’s Month, Bagong Silangan High School observed “Purple Wednesday Campaign”led by the Gender and Development Club on March 16,17, to March 21, 2023.
BSHS GAD officers led the room-toroom campaign for National Women’s Month with a theme of “We for Gender Equality and Inclusive society”.

GPTA treats teachers
In an effort to show appreciation for the hard work of Bagong Silangan High School (BSHS) teachers, the General Parents Teacher Association(GPTA) conducted a Teachers Treat Program on October 28.
The program provided free services such as foot spa, massage, facial massage, hair spa, and a haircut, and aimed to give teachers a chance to unwind after a long, exhausting month.
BSHS teacher Ms. Rosemarie Postriro said that the program was greatly beneficial, a big factor in helping to reduce the stress and fatigue of the teachers.
“Ito ay napakaganda sapagkat nakatutulong ito upang mabawasan yung pagod at stress ng mga guro dito sa Bagong Silangan High
School.” Ms. Rosemarie Postriro said. Head Teacher of BSHS Filipino Department, Ms. Gloria C. Cruz, also expressed appreciation for the program’s focus on the teachers’ health and wellbeing, noting that this act of kindness from the local officials and the GPTA was greatly appreciated by the teachers.
“Atleast ito, naa-appreciate ng teachers accomplished BSHS alumna and cum laude graduate from UP-Diliman, delivered an inspiring talk on the qualities and standards of effective leadership. She shared her own experiences and challenged the participants to step up and become leaders harnessing their unique strengths. The seminar served as a platform to empower BSHS students, equipping them with valuable leadership skills and highlighting the significance of mathematics beyond the classroom. yung celebration namin kahit huli. It is a “purple Wednesday” for everyone to show support in celebration of National Women’s Month and supporting Gender Equality. Purple represents Dignity and Women’s Rights.
The Goal of this campaign is to recognize and acknowledge the women’s role and achievements in different fields, and to commend every women in the society for their determination and strength.
They also dealt and tackled the Gender Equality issues about the inequality between men, women, and part of LGBTQ+ community.
Throughout the years, women have defied and broken the prejudices and stereotyping against them, and they never failed to prove to us that women are unstoppable.
Adding a community perspective, Kagawad Feb Marcelo from Brgy. Bagong Silangan emphasized the importance of mathematics in making informed decisions and developing policies that benefit all members of the community.
The BSHS Mathematics Club expressed their heartfelt appreciation to all BSHS personnel, with special recognition extended to Dr. Abadilla and the Mathematics teachers, as well as the dedicated Math Club officers.
