Reflectioners finish DSSPC with 37 wins, 1 RSPC ticket
Bringing home the bacon!
The Bagong Silangan High School (BSHS) campus journalists under the True Reflections once again made the Silanganians proud at the District Secondary School Press conference (DSSPC) held at Justice Cecilia Munoz Palma High School, on Dec. 3, 2022, bringing home 30 wins at various categories.

The campus journalists competed with 7 schools with 9 individual categories such as news, editorial, feature, sports, science, column, photojournalism, editorial cartooning and Copyreading and Headline writing (CRHW) and 3 group categories which were radio broadcasting, tv broadcasting, and collaborative desktop publishing.
Notable winners from The True Reflections included Ahron Briñas, who bagged first place in Editorial Cartooning, Mc Kenly Estrella, securing first place in Sports Writing, and Konelley Parada, taking the top spot in Science Writing.
In addition to the individual awards, The True Reflections excelled in group categories as well.
The Radio Broadcasting team secured third place in both Best Script and Best Infomercial.
The TV Broadcasting team achieved an overall third-place position and received accolades for Best Script, Best Technical Application, and Best News Presenter.
The Collaborative Desktop Publishing team showcased their skills by securing first place overall, winning first place in Layout,
News Page, Opinion Page, Feature Page, and Sports Page.
The True Reflections accumulated a total of 102 points in English journalism, earning them third place overall, while BSHS’s official Filipino publication, Ang Dalubwika, obtained 92 points, securing second place overall in Filipino journalism.
With a combined total of 192 points, BSHS ranked third among all schools in the CD2 region.
Division Press Triumphs
The success continued at the Division Secondary School Press Conference (DSSPC) held at San Francisco High School in February and March 2023.
The BSHS English journalists took home seven wins, with Ahron John Briñas, awarded as the champion in Editorial
Cartooning and earning a ticket to the Regional School Press Conference (RSPC).
The collaborative desktop publishing, TV broadcasting, and Online collaborative publishing proved thier powers by winning several special awards.
Despite the challenges due to the face-to-face platform of the District and Division after the COVID-19 restrictions and lockdowns, the BSHS English journalists demonstrated their resilience and determination.
Under the guidance of their school paper adviser, Ms. Maria Lulu Tuason, The True Reflections maintained their competitive edge and brought home multiple accolades, cementing their position as talented journalists in the division.
