REPORT TO THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE 47th NATIONAL CONVENTION FROM NATIONAL PRESIDENT SENATOR STANLEY NG 1 FOREWORD JCI is the best international youth organization. It is an international organization of over 115 nations that driven by 200,000 young people around the world. We empower young people to unleash their potential to address social issues in our community. Through the process, we make every person be a better person. Hong Kong is the 4th national organization with rich history in this Asia-pacific region among 22. We are pioneer in being the “practical idealist” for the society. Similar to many places in the world, Hong Kong, after 15 years of handover, is entering a period of new challenges in 2012. Issues on economic structure transformation, environment, cultural development, aging and low birth rate issue, high property price, governance, youth unemployment, cultural identity, social mobility, poverty, etc are some of highlights that may affect the sustainability of this city. Then, what is the role of the young? What is the role of JCI members? “We Decide Our Future” is the presidential theme for this year. JCI members are the active citizens in this city that we should unite more young people to create a bigger “WE”. With united power, we can have stronger impact to the community. There are choices in front of us - To be or not to be. It is our responsibility to DECIDE and to TAKE ACTION on what direction we want to go. Dream may not come true, but “FUTURE” is definitely coming. It affects not only you and me, but also affects our next generation. We share the same sky. It is OUR future, not your future or my future. Only united effort can create better future for all of us. After nearly a year time, I am so proud to see every action taken by our chapters and members are creating solid impact for the society and building a better future for all of us.
