Giovane artista americana opera con la fotografia, la grafica e soprattutto la pittura mettendo in discussione i limiti delle nostre strutture logiche (linguistiche, matematiche e spaziali) attraverso una forma d’astrazione multi-dimensionale e poetica. Le sue rigorose composizioni indagano le consuete modalità di percezione visiva, evidenziando ambiguità e scarti di senso; il rapporto tra superficie piana e tridimensionalità viene messo in scacco attraverso un gioco di illusioni percettive. La sua ricerca integra perfettamente tradizione concettuale, grafica e astrazione traendo ispirazione dalla matematica e dalla fisica. Tauba Auerbach ha partecipato ad esposizioni al Whitney Museum (2010 e 2013), al PSI/MoMA (2010 e 2014) e al MoMA (2012) di New York, oltre che al Centre Pompidou di Parigi (2013). Tra le recenti personali si ricordano quelle presso il Wiels Contemporary Art Center di Brussels (2013), l’Institute of Contemporary Arts di Londra (2014), l’Astrup Fearnley Museum di Oslo (2015) e la galleria Indipendenza di Roma (2015). Recentemente è stato realizzato un intervento presso la Vienna State Opera (2016-17). This young American artist works with photography, graphics and above all painting, probing the limits of human logical structures (linguistic, mathematical and spatial) through a poetic, multidimensional form of abstraction. Her rigorous compositions explore conventional modes of visual perception, uncovering ambiguities and discarded meanings; the relationship between flat surfaces and three dimensionality is challenged through a game of perceptional illusions. Her work is a perfect integration of conceptual tradition, graphics and abstraction and is inspired by mathematics and physics. Tauba Auerbach has participated in exhibitions at the Whitney Museum (2010 and 2013), at the PSI/MoMA (2010 and 2014) and at the MoMA (2012) in New York as well as at the Pompidou Centre in Paris (2013). Her recent personals include an exhibition at the Wiels Contemporary Art Centre in Brussels (2013), the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London (2014), the Astrup Fearnley Musuem in Olso (2015) and the Galleria Indipendenza in Rome (2015).
