Jefferson County Public Schools ROOSEVELT-PERRY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, Louisville, Kentucky

Luckett & Farley is provided design for additions and renovations to the Roosevelt-Perry Elementary School. Additions include an 11,021sf new media center and four new classrooms, a new 100sf entrance and a new 2,700sf cafeteria. The new media center includes space for computers, books, reading areas, administrative support spaces and a CCTV broadcast/conference facility. Renovations include new lights and ceiling in the existing gymnasium and new offices. Also included are new windows, sprinkler

and fire alarms systems and new site work for a new entrance drive, additional parking area and an enclosed service court. The project includes a new elevator to serve the existing two-story school and a new electrical switch gear as well. Luckett & Farley also prepared a master plan for future expansion of the building and site to provide a new building orientation.


Jefferson County Public Schools FAIRDALE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MEDIA CENTER ADDITION, Louisville, Kentucky

Luckett & Farley provided the architecture, engineer and interior design work for the Media Center Addition to Fairdale Elementary School. This is a 10,800 square foot addition onto an existing 1970’sera elementary school. The addition’s main feature is a 4,800 square foot media center (library) that also includes a student CCTV broadcast facility. The addition also includes an art classroom (with kiln room), computer classroom and conventional general use classroom. Exterior materials: Brown range face brick (to match existing) with buff accent brick; off-white standing seam metal roof over library; modified bitumen roof system over remainder. Structure is spread footing foundation, concrete masonry walls (interior and exterior) and steel roof structure.

Jefferson County Public Schools ST. MATTHEWS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MEDIA CENTER ADDITION, Louisville, Kentucky

Luckett & Farley provided design services of a Media Center addition at the existing St. Matthews Elementary School. The 5,800sf addition included a full media center for computers, books, reading areas, administrative support spaces and a CCTV broadcast facility.

RUTHERFORD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MEDIA CENTER AND ELEVATOR, Louisville, Kentucky The project includes renovation of the existing Library as part of the building expansion for a larger Media Center. A new elevator addition was constructed at a classroom wing of the existing structure, along with replacement of the school boiler, floor tile replacement in all Corridor spaces, new Auditorium carpeting and new Bus Drop-Off and Parent Pick-Up roadways at the front and rear of the school. The exterior of the structures were designed to blend with the scale, color and texture of the exterior materials to maintain harmony with the existing school. Areas in the media center addition included a new work room, art room, art residence studio, A/V storage, broadcast studio and broadcast viewing/control room.

COCHRAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, Louisville, Kentucky Luckett & Farley provided design services for the new elementary school. Kentucky Country Day School

NEW UPPER SCHOOL BUILDING, Louisville, Kentucky

Luckett & Farley provided design build services for a new upper school building on the 80-acre campus. The project also included a new landscape master plan for the entire campus. Because of a tight schedule, design build services were provided to allow the building to be occupied by the new school year.

New Albany Floyd County Schools GRANT LINE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, New Albany, Indiana

Luckett & Farley provided design services for an approximately 20,000sf addition onto the existing 54,766sf elementary school. Additions include a lobby, gymnasium with stage area, music classroom, art classroom, preschool and kindergarten classrooms, media center and restrooms. Renovations include converting the gymnasium into a larger cafeteria/kitchen and renovating the existing cafeteria kitchens into classrooms. A sustainable design strategy that was incorporated was the gymnasium roof is now made with castelated beams. These beams allow a smaller amount of steel to span the same distance as a standard beam and conserve natural reserves. The gymnasium HVAC system utilizes fabric ducts, which provide quite and even distribution of air with higher air quality. The new entry required a re-configuration of the pick up/drop off circulation patterns into an extremely efficient system. The exterior playground areas were re-configured to accommodate the new entrance.

New Albany Floyd County Schools GREENVILLE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, Greenville, Indiana

This project included a 22,540sf addition onto the existing 58,208sf elementary school. Additions included an entrance lobby, cafeteria, music classroom and nine classrooms. Renovation of the existing library and music rooms into a larger library/media center and updating the administration area were also provided

SIMPSONVILLE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL RENOVATION, Simpsonville, Kentucky Luckett & Farley provided design services for the renovation and addition of Simpsonville Elementary School which includes the following program areas: • Six new classroom additions • Expansion/renovation of cafeteria • Total mechanical system retrofit and replacement of major equipment • Replacement of flooring and ceiling finishes • Replacement of lighting systems with energy efficient/color corrected lighting

KENTUCKY SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF RENOVATION OF KERR & BRADY HALLS, Danville, Kentucky

Luckett & Farley provided design services for major renovations to Kerr & Brady Halls and a study of the Kentucky School for the Deaf campus and selected buildings. The project included site development, parking, deaf friendly annunciation and communications systems, ADA accessibility, code upgrades and renovation of space to accommodate new and revised programs approved in the KSD implementation plan.

Spaces were added to Kerr Hall to house an auditorium, fine arts offerings, student dining and kitchen facilities, student activity center and elementary school offerings. Additionally, structural masonry repairs will be included for Brady Hall. The campus was redesigned to include a new campus entry, interior vehicular and pedestrian circulation, new athletic facilities, and plaza areas with appropriate lighting and campus perimeter edges.


LOUISVILLE FREE PUBLIC LIBRARY SHAWNEE LIBRARY ADDITION & RENOVATION, Louisville, Kentucky

2012 AIA KENTUCKY CITATION FOR DESIGN EXCELLENCE

Luckett and Farley provided design services for the renovation of and addition to the Shawnee Branch of the Louisville Free Public Library. The new addition contrasts the existing traditional architecture as a simple box, clad in dark zinc coated ship lap siding. The 3,000 square foot elevated floor plan of the addition cantilevers over the basement walls to further accentuate its abstract form.

The existing building was renovated to include the children’s collections, offices, a work room and accessible toilets. All of the finishes were updated using sustainable and renewable building materials. Indirect, energy efficient lighting was used throughout the building in addition to high efficiency heating and cooling systems. High speed internet access was provided to the Library via fiber optic data lines.
