FC Belize Arrests Police 1-0 in PLB Football Belize City, February 26, 2016 A defensive error by Police United in the 89th minute gave FC Belize a much needed 1-0 win at the MCC Garden on Sunday. The city squad has struggled with a string of losses in this year’s Premier League of Belize. Hector Martinez’s shot to the far right post deflected off Police defender Devon Makin and into the net: 1-0. Elsewhere in the league, the Belize Defence Force and Verdes FC drew 1-1 at the Norman Broaster Stadium, when Verdes’ Richard “Cheety” Jimenez scored in the 38th minute, and Brian Martinez answered for the BDF in the 83rd minute. The Placencia Assassins ambushed Wagiya: 2-0 at the Carl Ramos Stadium in Dangriga on Sunday, with 2 strikes by Luis “Barker” Torres in the 39th and 52nd minutes. At the Victor Sanchez Union Stadium in Punta Gorda on Sunday, the undefeated Belmopan Bandits punctuated their dominance of the PLB with a 3-0 win over the Paradise Freedom Fighters with 2 goals from Honduran import Jairo Roches in the 27th and 78th minutes. Humberto Requena scored the 2nd goal in the 33rd minute. Belize City, February 24, 2017 The Salvation Army, St. John Vianney RC and Wesley Upper School girls have one win apiece to lead the National Sports Council’s primary schools football competition at the MCC Garden. The Salvation Army girls posted their first win: 1-0 vs. Holy Redeemer last Thursday, with a goal by Kenisha Flowers. The Salvation Army girls drew 0-0 with Muslim Community School last Tuesday. The undefeated Belize Elementary School girls have 5pts from a win and 2 draws, including a scoreless draw with the Unity Presbyterian girls last Thursday, and a nil-zip draw with the St. John Vianney girls. BES’ Sanaa Rowland scored the winning goal for their 1-0 win over St. Mary’s Anglican. The Unity girls have 2 draws: nil-zip with St. John Vianney and with St. Mary’s. The undefeated Wesley Upper girls have 4pts from their 1-0 over St. Luke’s Methodist School when Courtney Broaster scored the winning goal and a nil-zip draw with Queen Square Anglican last Wednesday.
