B ND La Salle's music department boasts a variety of performing ensembles. Over 25% of the student body participates in music, creating a diverse and enthusiastic atmosphere. The music department put on a series of exceptional performances this year which included the Christmas Concert, Music Social, Jazz Assembly, and Spring Concert. In 2016, for the first time ever, a third competing jazz band was created: Lab Band II. All competing jazz bands, including the Comp Band and Lab Band, performed exceptionally well throughout the competition season, securing several sectional and outstanding soloist awards for seniors Joseph Marino, Tyler Dowling, and Scott Blanke. In April2017, the Comp Band won its third straight Cavalcade of Bands Championship in the Duke Ellington Conference, which is the highest division. At the Cavalcade of Bands Championship, the band also won Best Sight-Reading, Best Saxophone Section, and Best Trombone Section. Joseph Marino was also recognized with a Best Soloist Award. - Kyle Tokiwa
