Historical Destinations LEE’S SUMMIT HISTORY MUSEUM

The Historical Society of Lee’s Summit maintains a museum in the 1939 Post Office building at 220 SW Main St., in downtown Lee’s Summit. The museum houses a number of historic artifacts, maps and photos of early Lee’s Summit. The museum is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. MISSOURI TOWN 1855

Step back in time and take in the sights and sounds of Missouri in the 1800s. This one-time farming community extends over 30 sloping acres. It is a living history museum, offering more than 25 original structures with furnishings and equipment, in addition to hosts and tour guides in period attire, authentic field and garden crops, and rare breeds of livestock found in the mid-19th century.
