Lakes Region Spirit!! he first thing you may notice when putting this issue in your hands is that it is smaller. And, it is. By ¾ of an inch.
Why? It is sometimes difficult to be different. I made the conscious decision when I started this publication to be different. A wider format would make us stand out, I reasoned. And it did—outside of standard magazine racks, outside of standard mailers, outside of standard postal rates. You get the idea.
Magazines typically come in the standard size of 10.875 x 8.375 inches. And, so, I caved.
From now on, we adhere to the standard. We simply do not want a small design issue like page width to reduce our chances, in any way, of getting to you or being displayed in the retail world.
Other than that, we are the same. And, as a tribute to all of our writers, readers and advertisers, we are embarking on our second year.
This year means a lot for many reasons—early subscribers are signing up for another year, and advertisers are coming back to continue supporting us while getting their name out to our readers.
We also launch our digital magazine, or e-magazine if you prefer. And, uh, oh, bucking the Internet trend, we are charging for access to our on-line world. Subscription rates are $14.95 per year or $4.95 Check us out at www.LakesRegionSpirit.com. per issue.
