The week that we spent in Belize was a whirlwind. We worked side by side with one family and helped them to build their new home. The first day on site, I remember staring at an empty lot in disbelief—how would we ever get this finished by the time we had to go home? Today, I look back at pictures of all of us standing in the house and I’m still amazed by what we had accomplished. It’s been almost 5 years since my trip to Belize, but these memories are still so fresh in my head—the little pink hammer, the group incessantly telling each other to “Belize it,” reflections on the beach, and the family right there with us every day in the heat.
