N MAY, MORE THAN 500 LOYOLA SUPPORTERS turned out for Ramble 2019: We Are Golden to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our long-running Ramble, which has been raising funds to make our mission possible since 1970. Thanks to the hard work of Ramble Co-Chairs Wendy Beard, Michaela D’Arrigo, Catherine Sullivan, Sandy Walker and their committee—and the generosity of our Ramble sponsors and guests—We are Golden raised a record $1.4 million to support tuition assistance.

ORE THAN 650 MEMBERS of the Loyola community gathered at Wintrust’s Grand Banking Hall in November 2018 to celebrate Loyola’s mission and support tuition assistance at our 61st annual President’s Dinner. Guests danced to live music, refueled at food stations featuring flavors from around the globe and honored three generations of the Barbara and Robert P. Perkaus Jr. ’54 Family with the 2018 Rev. Daniel A. Lord, SJ, Award for Distinguished Service in the Cause of Youth. “The Perkaus family has been a model of stability, service, faith and the importance of family in community—leading by example through their support and engagement with Loyola Academy and countless other causes,” noted Loyola Academy President Rev. Patrick E. McGrath, SJ. “Their legacy of philanthropy and service at Loyola Academy and throughout Chicago’s communities is truly extraordinary.”

Guardian Angels for Ramblers in need: Guests raised $433,000 for our Guardian Angel Fund at Ramble 2019. Ed Wehmer ‘72 and our Board of Trustees kicked off the paddle raise by donating $38,000 each to cover tuition, books, iPads and uniforms for two students for one year.

Three generations of generosity: At our 2018 President’s Dinner, Fr. McGrath (far right) honored the Barbara and Robert J. Perkaus Jr. ‘54 Family for five decades of philanthropy and service.
