Founded in 2018, LowTides Ocean Products was created as a solution to preserve the ocean for future generations. Every minute of every day an equivalent of a truckload of plastic is dumped into our oceans. That’s 8 million tons a year. By 2050, it is estimated that plastic in the oceans will outweigh fish. Inspired by his childhood along the waters’ edge at the New Jersey Shore, founder Brenton Hutchinson sought a way to energize all beach lovers to help clean our oceans and ensure its beauty for their children and beyond. A beach chair to spread a simple message: save the oceans. LowTides Ocean Products does just that. LowTides beach chairs offer a sustainable solution to the plastic problem that plagues our oceans. We work with leaders in the industry of upcycling plastics to source ocean bound plastic and transform it into our beach chairs. Our material comes from two key "At-Risk Zones:" the Yucatan Peninsula and Haiti. Our qualified partners directly ensure the ocean bound plastic is 100% traceable. Stylish and durable, the LowTides design is comfortable, looks great, and makes the ocean a healthier place for future generations.

Each LowTides beach chair is made with custom features created from ‘professional’ beach goers. Resting 8 inches from the sand, the chair uses sand-blasted aluminum for the base, and each armrest is built from upcycled ocean plastics.

Plastic is collected from the beaches of Haiti and the Yucatan Peninsula by local organizations. These single use plastics are broken down into resin, then cleaned, deodorized, and made into individual pellets. The HDPE upcycled pellets are molded to form the armrests and kickplates. Ocean Bound Plastic, or Ocean Plastic, is molded from HDPE (high-density polyethylene) plastic. Commonly refererd to as resin, it is made from plastic particles pulled from plastic trash and litter located 50 kilometers from the coastline in ‘at-risk’ areas around the world.
