Christmas Wattle Ornament BY NAOMI FROM ENCHANTED ITEMS BY NAOMI
I love our Aussie Summer Christmases, we are so lucky to be able to enjoy the outdoors on Christmas day. For our family we have a big BBQ lunch at home and then head down to the beach in the afternoon…I have always found it difficult to find Australian themed Christmas Decorations, so I make them myself. You can find my Australian Animal themed Christmas Ornaments right HERE in the Love Australian Handmade Gift Guide. Here is a simple Australian themed decoration that you can try… what is more Australian than our own Native plant; the Golden Wattle...
Materials Makin’s Clay®, The No Bake Clay® Olive Green, Green Leaf and Yellow (air dry polymer clay). Bronze tone jump rings assorted sizes 0.4mm and 0.8mm Bronze tone Eye Pin Eyelets with thread 0.8mm size Acrylic roller or a Clay machine Exacto Knife A small balling tool or toothpick Pin Vise Hand Drill (to drill small holes in the leaves after the clay is dry, but the holes can place while the clay is wet). CHRISTMAS WATTLE ORNAMENT
Christmas Wattle Ornament BY NAOMI FROM ENCHANTED ITEMS BY NAOMI
Instructions: Roll out your Makin's Clay® the olive green and green leaf, to the thickest setting on your clay machine or roll to 0.4mm thickness, on to a title or a non stick craft mat. Using your Exacto Knife cut leaf shapes out in different lengths. I made 5 leaves for this ornament. Tip - can lightly trace a leaf shape onto the clay first, once happy with the shapes cut them out. Smooth the cut edges with your finger tips.
Lightly press in the centre downwards with a toothpick or a smooth edge knife, a line for the leaf vane, do not press down too hard to cut the clay. Add the little holes with a toothpick to the top thickest part of the leaf (for the jump rings later), if you don't have a small Pin Vise Hand Drill.
Lay the leaves on an empty squished toilet roll. This will give a slight curve to the leaf.
Roll the Makin's Clay® Yellow into little balls, in assorted sizes, ranging from 0.8mm to 0.4mm. Then use a small balling tool or toothpick to make small indents/holes, giving the texture look of the wattle flower. I made 7 wattle flowers.

Christmas Wattle Ornament BY NAOMI FROM ENCHANTED ITEMS BY NAOMI
Allow to dry for 24 hours.
Once dry, add the jump ring holes into the leaves using the Pin Vise Hand Drill. Add larger 0.8mm jump rings to the holes using your pliers,then screw the Eye Pin Eyelets into the yellow wattle balls. Tip - if you would like a double wattle use an Eyelet pin and thread it through the 2 balls.
Loop the leaves together using the jump rings. Place the larger leaf in the middle and the others around it, even place some leaves at the back of the main leaves to give a fuller look to the ornament.
Use the smaller jump rings to group two or three wattle balls together. Then loop the wattle balls onto the larger leaf jump rings.
Finish off the ornament by threading a green silk ribbon to hang it on.

Christmas Play Dough - 2 Ways BY MEL FROM CREATIVE MAKES
Materials
needed to make playdough base (see individual recipes for additions for green playdough and
scented playdough: 2 cups Plain Flour
2 tbsp Cooking oil
4 tbsp Cream of Tartar
Mixing Bowl
1 cup Salt
Wooden spoon
2 cups hot Water
Jug
Process: Mix together 2 Cups of flour, 4 tbsp cream of tartar and 2 tbsp oil in a large mixing bowl. - If you are making the green Christmas Playdough add 2 tbsp of the Matcha powder to the flour and mix. - If you are making the Christmas Scented playdough add a total of 6-8 tsp of ground Christmas spices (e.g. cinnamon, cloves, ginger, or nutmeg) and mix. In the jug pour two cups of hot water (water needs to be slightly cooled boiling water, hot water from the tap doesn’t dissolve the salt as well). Mix 1 cup of salt into water until dissolved (not all the salt may dissolve, just dissolve it as much as possible)
Slowly pour water into mixing bowl that contains the flour, being careful not to splash as the water is hot. Combine using the mixing spoon until dough comes together. Tip dough out onto bench and knead until smooth. You may need to wait until it has cooled slightly before kneading as the mixture may be hot.
The cream of tartar and salt allow the playdough to keep in an airtight container for up to 6 months. PAGE 19 |

Christmas Play Dough - 2 Ways BY MEL FROM CREATIVE MAKES
Additions for Christmas scented playdough Assorted GROUND Christmas spices e.g. Cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and cloves Assorted WHOLE Christmas spices e.g. Cinnamon, cloves, star anise Mortar and pestle Various items to play with dough once made. These can be items found around the house or in the garden, hunting for and gathering the items can be just as much fun as using them! Some examples are: *Wooden beads *Buttons
*Buttons *Twigs
*Gumnuts/seed pods *Flowers *Pop sticks *Rolling pin
*Some of the leftover whole spices *Cookie cutters
*Any items with interesting shapes or textures that would give a good print Place a ball of the plain playdough onto a table accompanied by the spices and the mortar and pestle Demonstrate how to use the mortar and pestle, making sure you are intentional in describing how to crush things, you can pound, or you can grind. Encourage your child to add the spices to their playdough, demonstrating how to knead the playdough to incorporate the spices into it. Set out the additional items that you have gathered and make wonderful doughy creations

Gingerbread Pudding Biscuits BY PETA RHIND FROM THE ROAD TO LOVING MYÂ THERMO MIXER
MAKES 26 Prep Time - 10 min Cook Time - 30 min Total Time - 40 min
Ingredients 130g butter, cubed 90g brown sugar 1 tsp vanilla bean paste 1 egg 100g golden syrup 390g plain flour, plus extra for dusting 1 tsp bicarb soda 1 tsp ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp ground ginger 1/2 tsp nutmeg 1/4 tsp ground cloves
Decorations 200g white chocolate melts 1 tsp coconut oil/olive oil 78 red coated chocolates 26 confectionary mint leaves
Thermomixing method 1. Preheat oven to 180C. Line two baking trays with baking paper. 2. Place butter, brown sugar and vanilla into bowl. Mix Speed 5 / 30 seconds. Scrape down sides. 3. Add egg to bowl. Mix Speed 5 / 10 seconds. Scrape down sides. 4. Add golden syrup, plain flour, bicarb soda and ground spices to the bowl. Mix Speed 5 / 40 seconds. 5. Place dough onto a floured bench and knead a little flour into the dough by hand until your dough is slightly more firm and can be rolled. 6. Divide the mixture into three. Roll one portion of the dough between two sheets of baking paper until your dough is approximately 5mm high. The thicker the dough, the easier it is to cut shapes out. 7. Using a 7cm circle shaped cutter, cut circles from dough and place onto the baking trays. 8. Leave room between each circle on each baking tray and bake for 10 minutes or until slightly golden. Do not overcook or they will become hard. 9. Allow to cool slightly on the baking trays then move to a wire cooling rack to cool. 10. Place white chocolate and oil/butter into a microwave safe jug. Cook on Medium for 90 seconds. Stir until completely melted. 11. Spoon white chocolate over one edge of the circle to look like dripped icing. See picture for reference. 12. Mix until creamed and slightly lighter in colour and texture. 3. Add egg to bowl. Mix until combined. 4. Add golden syrup, plain flour, bicarb soda and ground spices to the bowl. Mix until well combined. 5. Place dough onto a floured bench and knead a little flour into the dough by hand until your dough is slightly more firm and can be rolled. 6. Divide the mixture into three. Roll one portion of the dough between two sheets of baking paper until your dough is approximately 5mm high.
