Saving Little Lives "One Spoonful at a Time" THE MALNUTRITION CENTER

It is a daily struggle for poor families throughout Haiti as they must try to figure out a way to feed their children with "just a tiny little bit." Most Haitian families struggle to survive on less than $2 per day. They cook their little bit of rice or soup and pass around a spoonful of food to each child. Everyone gets a "bite," and if they do not eat it, they could die.
Children live in misery because their mothers and fathers cannot feed them. There are no jobs, nothing grows well in the nutrient-deficient soil, and the children have no choice but to drink "dirty water" to quench their thirst. As a result, too many Haitian children have worms and suffer from malnutrition. They are dying of hunger every day.
Before we developed our Malnutrition Center, malnourished children would come to our adult Jesus Healing Center Clinic to be treated. Doctors would check the child and prescribe medicine, but it was only a "BandAid." It could not stop the malnutrition. We realized we had to do something better to save these precious children.
Our Malnutrition Center has been open for more than a year, and people come from all over Haiti! Malnourished babies and toddlers, like eight-month-old Malaika, are brought to us, often on the brink of death, from remote areas high up in the mountains. We keep these children in our care until they reach their desired weight. All of our tiny patients are given special foods and milk, and we have "around-the-clock" nurses and "mommies" tending to them. They love feeding them, giving them baths, playing with them, and showing them love.
When health is restored and the children reach their intended weight, they return home with lots of nourishing, special food for themselves, their mothers, and the other children in their family. But they must come back for regular check-ups.
The Malnutrition Center is one of our most touching outreaches! We want to thank Joyce Meyer Ministries - Hand of Hope for sponsoring the building of the Malnutrition Clinic and furnishings. We love the little ones that God has entrusted us with. Just look at little Malaika today! There is always such joy in seeing little lives saved!
