Owner of Century Girl Vintage; Leah Blake, spent her childhood visiting estate sales with her grandmother. After growing up and working in vintage boutiques throughout New Orleans; Blake decided to open her own store in 2014. Her shop offers some of the finest vintage clothing you will ever find and her collection brings you back to a time when attention to detail was an art. With everything from dresses to jewelry and everything in between; you’re sure to find a treasure that you will hold dear for a lifetime.

Jennifer Weishaupt and her husband, Erich, have been serving up delicious breakfast, brunch and lunch at The Ruby Slipper Café since 2008. One of my favorites, Chicken St. Charles, is a fried chicken breast served over a buttermilk biscuit, topped with two poached eggs, and finished with a pork Tasso cream sauce- decadent! The French Toast Bites are an excellent choice for a sweet snack. This little cozy restaurant also has delicious vegetarian options available.

LOUISIANA WOMEN IN BUSINESS

Bambi DeVille Vintage bambideville.com 3017 Magazine St. Bambi DeVille got her love of vintage chic from her grandmother Anna. The young DeVille frequently raided her grandmother’s closet and dressed herself; as well as her 5 sisters, in dresses, hats, purses, shoes, jewels and furs. After moving to New York and teaching at the Barbizon Modeling School; she returned to New Orleans. Her love of Thirties and Forties radios inspired her affinity for Bakelite; a type of colorful and chunky jewelry from that era. This fondness also motivated Bambi to open her own boutique in the French Quarter and eventually her vintage shop on Magazine Street where she sells hats, coats, dresses, lingerie and much more.
