SHEFFIELD City Council is pleased to announce that every library across the city is set to receive an additional one off cash boost of £10,000. The windfall means that each library, including volunteer-run libraries, will have extra money to spend on what will best meet the needs of their space and to do more for the communities who use them. Cabinet member for Culture, Parks and Leisure at Sheffield City Council Mary Lea, said: “I understand the valuable role libraries play within our communities so we’re thrilled that we can provide extra funding to help every library in Sheffield. It means each library will have the opportunity to

make the changes they need to improve their offer to the local community.” The funding bonus comes as Sheffield City Council confirms that the grant funding for voluntary libraries is set to continue. Julie Marshall, a volunteer at Ecclesfield Community Library said: “We are thrilled that Ecclesfield community library will receive an extra £10,000. As a volunteer service we rely on the good will, commitment and dedication of our workers and we welcome this additional funding. “We will be speaking to our library members and volunteers to help us identify what spend will benefit our

At just before 3.10pm on Thursday March 12 it is reported that the boy got off a bus that had stopped on Bower Hill directly opposite the junction with Manor Lane in the Oxspring area of Barnsley.

The boy sustained a serious injury to his head and was taken to hospital by ambulance where he remains in a serious but stable condition. Officers are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.
