Why we exist Look Good Feel Better UK is a UK-wide specialist cancer support charity focussed on helping people to manage the cosmetic and physical impact of their cancer treatment.
Each workshop is led by industry-trained specialists and offers an invaluable opportunity to talk to people in a similar situation, whilst helping support people with their changing appearance.
People leave the workshops feeling empowered, motivated and less isolated – allowing them to feel more confident during their cancer journey.

Foreword from CEO, Mark Flannery
I am delighted to share Look Good Feel Better UK’s Impact Report for 2024.
I can say with confidence that 2024 was a transformational year for Look Good Feel Better, for many reasons. The charity reached a significant milestone as we celebrated our 30th birthday. Our wonderful charity has been offering help and support to cancer patients for 30 years, across the UK. That is quite the achievement and something we are all very proud of.
The cancer landscape in the UK still paints a worrying picture, with data still indicating that someone is diagnosed with cancer in the UK every 90 seconds. With the number of people in the UK living with cancer surging to an all-time high, at almost 3.5 million and c390,000 diagnosed annually*, the growth projections for cancer cases in the UK and across the world continue to grow at an alarming rate. However, recent data from NHS England in January 2025, presents a strong and encouraging improvement in the early diagnosis levels of some common cancers, which will undoubtedly have a positive impact on treatment and successful outcomes for patients.
We operate in a world, where we hope to see a cure for all cancers, to eradicate this awful disease, but until then...
We have a vital role to fulfil in working alongside our partners and fellow charities, to support as many people with cancer as possible.
As a cancer support charity, focussed on supporting patients with their cosmetic appearance and wellbeing during their treatment, demand for our services continues to grow. Like most small charities we face the dilemma of seeing significant growth in the demand for our services, against a backdrop of financial challenges both within the charity and the wider charitable sector.
However, in 2023 we launched a 3-year strategic plan, a plan designed to expand the range of services provided by Look Good Feel Better, whilst investing in the infrastructure of the charity and broadening our fundraising activities. As we enter the final year of that plan, it is clear that the charity has been transformed and is well positioned for the future to meet demand, to grow, to diversify and to remain financially sustainable.

“Through
the hard work delivered in 2024, we enter 2025 looking to support a record
number of cancer patients...”
In 2022, a promise was made by Look Good Feel Better to ‘help more people, in more places, in more ways’. Through the hard work delivered in 2024, we enter 2025 looking to support a record number of cancer patients, from a record number of venues across the UK, delivering a record number of face-to-face support programmes, whilst having delivered the highest scoring beneficiary impact scores on record. We make a difference.
Again, this is an outstanding achievement and as the CEO of this amazing charity, I would like to recognise my own team’s hard work and successes, the hard work and passion of our wonderful volunteers who deliver our life changing work and to all those who have supported the charity in any way in 2024.
At Look Good Feel Better, we continue to focus relentlessly on delivering our mission, underpinned by our vision to be recognised as one of the UK’s leading cancer support charities... ...and the only one dedicated to improving the physical appearance and overall wellbeing of people living with cancer.
As an active, community and patient led support charity, our values cascade through our work. We continue to work to serve those on their cancer journey and we work with care and compassion, with integrity, we collaborate at every opportunity, we deliver inclusive services to the UK population, and we demonstrate passion and commitment to helping our beneficiaries.
I hope from our impact report, that you see the huge progress that we are making and why our work and our services are so important.
At Look Good Feel Better UK, we face cancer together.

Workshop Delivery
As a patient and community-led charity, offering choice, access and variation to people using our services is vital.
Our ongoing commitment to inclusivity and accessibility ensures that no one faces cancer alone. Our newly introduced venue tiering system highlights our focus on inclusivity and reducing barriers to care, ensuring that individuals in even the most remote locations can benefit from the vital physical support and emotional wellbeing we provide. The system is designed to adapt to the varying demand per location, with venues categorised into three tiers based on the relevant patient demand in that location.
Tier 1 venues = 12+ patients
Tier 2 venues = between 7 and 11 patients
Tier 3 venues = 4 to 6 patients
This flexible approach allows us to deliver tailored support to communities of all sizes with Tier 3 supporting areas which often lack a presence of many other main cancer support service providers.
It is important that we can maintain and grow a varied delivery footprint to cater for individual preferences and needs. Our hospital and cancer centre venues allow patients to be close to a clinical environment and staff, should they need that additional support during their Look Good Feel Better workshop. We also deliver many workshops in non-hospital and non-clinical venues such as luxury hotels and spa’s e.g. Rudding Park Hotel in Harrogate, community centres and also leisure premises such as The Shard, London as these venues will provide an environment for people to enjoy a workshop away from all things relating to their treatment.

New Venue Spotlight: Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, Liverpool (Tier 1)
The launch of a Look Good Feel Better workshop at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre Liverpool is a significant milestone in extending our support to cancer patients in Merseyside and beyond. As one of the UK’s leading cancer centres, Clatterbridge provides specialist treatment to a vast population across Cheshire, Merseyside, North Wales, and the Isle of Man. This collaboration not only marks the charity’s first partnership with Clatterbridge but also presents an exciting opportunity for future service development in the region. With Liverpool’s high demand for cancer support, we are thrilled to reintroduce workshops in the area.

New Venue Spotlight: Hub on the Beach, Romney Marsh, Kent (Tier 1)
Launching in May, Look Good Feel Better workshop venue in Romney Marsh, Kent marks a vital step in expanding support to underserved areas. Despite its scenic rural setting, the community faces significant social and economic challenges, with limited access to healthcare services. Positioned in a boundary area with little existing cancer support, this new venue will provide a much-needed resource for local residents, reducing the need to travel long distances. By bringing our workshops closer to home, we aim to help bridge the gap in cancer support and ensure more people can access the benefits of our services.
Patient Demographics
These patient insights reflect the vital role we played in supporting women affected by cancer during 2024, with 99% of our workshop attendees identifying as female.
Key insight Age
80% of our beneficiaries are aged 50 years and above
Whilst the majority of our patients are over the age of 50, we are seeing a small, but growing number of younger patients attending our workshops, reflecting the increasing need to provide tailored support for those navigating the challenges of cancer at a younger age.
Breast cancer remains the most common cancer type, accounting for 60% of those we support
With almost 1 in 3 new cancers diagnosed in women being breast cancer, it is not surprising that this demographic equates to 60% of our workshop attendees. This reflects both the prevalence of breast cancer and the critical need for services that address the specific emotional and physical challenges faced by women undergoing treatment.
These insights guide our efforts to ensure our workshops remain inclusive, accessible, and tailored to the needs of a diverse community.
Key insight Location
Almost 60% of our workshops are Tier 2 & 3, serving those in rural or underserved areas, reflecting our commitment to reaching communities with limited access to support services
Venue Spotlight: Wigtownshire, Stranraer - Tier 3
One of 15 new venue openings in 2024 included the Women’s Wellbeing Centre in Wigtownshire, bringing vital cancer support to a region that previously had very little. This area faces significant challenges, with residents often driving up to 40 miles to see a consultant and travelling to Glasgow or Edinburgh for treatment. Our workshops are now providing a lifeline as the only dedicated cancer support service in the area.
With one-third of Scotland classified as rural, cancer patients in regions like Wigtownshire bear the additional financial strain of travelling long distances for care. In fact, 70% of the support previously provided here went towards helping patients afford travel costs for treatment. Some patients have even reported enduring 7.5-hour one-way journeys on the patient transport service from Edinburgh to Stranraer.
The opening of this venue ensures that individuals in these remote communities have access to crucial emotional and practical support, closer to home.
Although 84% of our workshop attendees identify as White English, Welsh, Scottish, Northern Irish or White Other, the lack of comprehensive data on breast cancer incidence within ethnic minority groups underscores the need for more inclusive research and focused outreach efforts in order to better understand and address the unique needs of diverse communities. Our Volunteers
Our volunteers are the driving force behind everything we do, bringing energy, commitment and compassion to every aspect of our work.
Whether leading workshops, sharing their skills as beauty professionals, or providing invaluable support for fundraising events and programme delivery, their dedication is at the core of our mission.
Volunteer of the Year
Cathy Hollowell
After being diagnosed with breast cancer in early 2015, just months after her husband’s own diagnosis, Cathy attended a Look Good Feel Better workshop that had a profound impact on her.
Once she regained her health, she became a dedicated volunteer, giving back to the charity that had supported her. Her journey came full circle when her husband attended a men’s workshop, with Cathy there as a volunteer to support himhighlighting the incredible role our volunteers play in making a difference.
Cathy’s dedication to the charity has only grown over the years and with immense pride, she became Lead Volunteer at Peterborough. Reflecting on her experience, Cathy shares, “I love volunteering with the charity, sometimes I wonder who exactly is benefiting the most from everything these workshops offer as I’m also on a high at the end of every workshop.”
Volunteer Spotlight
Jill Bradley
Jill’s dedication to the history of Look Good Feel Better in Jersey
As the lead volunteer at The Oasis Macmillan Centre in St Saviour, Jersey, Jill has been flying the flag for Look Good Feel Better for over 20 years. She has been at the heart of the charity’s workshops, offering support and a sense of community to those undergoing cancer treatment. With a background in cosmetics with Estee Lauder, she played a key role in launching the very first workshops on the island, initially securing a small hospital venue before moving to the Oasis Macmillan Centre, where the workshops continue today.
Whilst the pandemic meant many volunteers stepped away, Jill has since been running the workshops singlehandedly to ensure that people in Jersey continue to receive the vital support that Look Good Feel Better provides. Her impact goes beyond makeup and skincare, she has fostered a space where attendees connect, share experiences, and support one another.
Reflecting on her years of volunteering, she shares: “I’ve lost count of the number of times someone has said, ‘I never wear makeup,’ and then suddenly, they see themselves in the mirror and say, ‘OMG, is that really me?!’ Then the other ladies start saying, ‘Oh, you look amazing!’ - job done!”

Our Partners and Supporters
Product donations from the beauty industry play a crucial role in supporting our mission.
These contributions are an essential support to the charity and come in the form of provision of products, curation of goody bags and beauty boxes, provision of key business support such as logistical operations and through the promotion and profile raising of the charity.
Equally, these product donations allow us to provide each and every beneficiary attending our Skincare and Makeup workshops with a curated product bag for them to take home.
These bags not only offer practical tools to help manage the visible effects of cancer treatment but also serve as a gesture of care and encouragement, reinforcing the power of self-confidence during challenging times.

Experience days corporate partners
Our experience days offer a unique opportunity to invite our attendees to join a beauty or skincare masterclass held by experts from the industry. In 2024, we were lucky to partner with Chanel, L’Oréal, Estee Lauder and Elemis.
Another shining example of a partnership is the UKLASH Experience Day, held as part of our 30th Anniversary celebrations. This memorable event featured expert led sessions, including a sensitive skin workshop by Dr. Raj and a lash and brow tutorial by celebrity makeup artist Emily Wood. These days not only provide our beneficiaries with valuable tips and techniques to support their wellbeing during treatment but also foster a sense of community and shared positivity, making a lasting impact on everyone involved. Samantha Ramsay, who attended the day said:
“Yesterday was absolutely fabulous. I returned home with a bounce in my step. Thank you!”
Our Success Stories
Here’s a small selection of our many success stories from 2024 – our 30th anniversary year.
Bold Is Beautiful - Benefit Cosmetics
Benefit’s ‘Bold is Beautiful’ 2024 campaign raised an impressive £157,992, with proceeds split equally between Look Good Feel Better and Refuge.
Teams across the business demonstrated incredible dedication through a variety of creative fundraising initiatives. Since the programme’s launch in May 2015, the campaign has collectively raised over £2 million for both charities.
This year saw a purpose led panel discussion for AllBright members hosted by award-winning journalist, broadcaster and founder, Ateh Jewel, in conversation with Benefit’s General Manager, Sarah Harbon, Head of Philanthropy at Refuge, Katie Hillitt and Director of Fundraising and Communications at Look Good Feel Better, Ian Daniels. An inspiring evening to connect women and highlight the power of services to empower women.
Trusts & Foundations
The Perfume Shop
In 2024, The Perfume Shop emerged as our largest corporate partner following the most successful fundraising year in the history of our collaboration. Various teams throughout their organisation, including retail locations nationwide, their Dunstable warehouse, and the head office in High Wycombe, actively supported the charity partnership. Through participation in challenge events, bake sales, and in-store raffles, they contributed to funding over 3,900 seats in our confidence-boosting workshops.
In 2024, our partner Trusts and Foundations demonstrated incredible generosity and belief in our mission, raising an outstanding £117,864 to support our vital work. These funds have been instrumental in enabling us to expand our services, reach more underserved communities, and continue providing life-changing workshops to those affected by cancer. This remarkable support underscores the confidence these organisations have in our impact and reinforces the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing the physical and emotional challenges faced by our beneficiaries.
“The Pink Ribbon Foundation is proud to help fund the vital work that Look Good Feel Better provides. Of the over 14,500 people they helped in 2024, more than 8,500 are recovering from breast cancer - an incredible 60%. We understand the emotional and physical challenges many women face after a cancer diagnosis, including the impact on their femininity and sense of identity. Together with Look Good Feel Better, we hope to make a meaningful difference in helping them rebuild their confidence and wellbeing.” Jonathan Prince MBE, Chair of Trustees.
Look Good Feel Better Christmas Concert
Our 30th Anniversary Concert was a standout success story of 2024, bringing together supporters, beneficiaries, and partners to celebrate three decades of Look Good Feel Better’s impactful work. Last year, our Snowdon by Night Trek proved to be a shining example of the power of community and determination.
With 23 incredible participants taking on the challenge whilst battling gale-force winds, freezing rain and slippery slopes, the event raised an impressive £22,500. This remarkable achievement directly funded 225 workshop places, offering vital emotional and physical support to individuals navigating a cancer diagnosis. The trek not only brought people together under a shared cause but also highlighted the difference we can make when we take action for those in need.
National Lipstick Day - Space NK
Our National Lipstick Day campaign in partnership with Space NK, which raised an impressive £27,000 –an increase from £16,000 in 2023. This growth highlights the power of strategic collaborations and the continued support of our corporate partners. These campaigns not only generate vital funds but also raise awareness of our work, ensuring we can reach even more individuals who need our support.
Netball Tournament
In March 2024, our Charity Netball Tournament at the University of Warwick Sports Hub brought together teams from across the UK, raising an incredible £31,747 to support people living with cancer. In partnership with Collection Cosmetics and England Netball, the event was a celebration of teamwork, generosity and a powerful reminder of the impact we can make together.

The St. Austell Soroptimist Club, a long-time supporter of the Charity, achieved great success at their Autumn Fayre, raising £1,900, marking it as their most successful Fayre to date.
The Difference We Make
Laura’s story
Diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer on her 38th birthday while balancing her career and raising her one-yearold daughter, Laura found confidence and connection through a Look Good Feel Better workshop - a small yet transformative moment during one of the toughest chapters of her life.
Could you tell us a little about yourself and your experience with cancer?
I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer on my 38th birthday, which was a huge shock. I’d always been healthy, with a big focus on my career, and I was balancing that alongside my family and friends. At the time, I had a one-year-old daughter, and my diagnosis was incredibly hard not just for me, but for my husband, sister, parents, extended family, friends, and colleagues. It felt like life had completely shifted overnight. A nurse mentioned the Look Good Feel Better workshop, and I decided to give it a try as a way to focus on something positive and rebuild some confidence during treatment.
How would you describe your experience at the workshop, and in what ways did it support you throughout your treatment?
The workshop was a true gift during a really challenging time. It felt so supportive and uplifting, and I was able to take some time for myself, which was rare with a one-year-old and everything else going on. Learning practical tips for dealing with the visible side effects of treatment made a big difference - I started to feel more like “me” again.
But even more than that, being surrounded by others who truly understood what I was going through created a sense of community and connection that I hadn’t realised I needed. It gave me both confidence and comfort, which helped carry me through treatment.
Since receiving the news that there is no evidence of disease, how have you found the process of navigating and adjusting to “life after cancer”?
Hearing those words was an incredible relief, but I’ve found that life after cancer brings its own challenges. There’s so much gratitude for this second chance, but also a lot to process emotionally.
I’m learning to rebuild trust in my body and adjust to a new version of normal while trying to balance all the roles in my life being a mum, wife, daughter, sister, and friend.
I’m also trying to focus on taking care of myself, which hasn’t always been easy with everything else going on. It’s a journey, but I’m incredibly thankful to be here.
What advice would you give to someone thinking about attending a Look Good Feel Better workshop?
Definitely do it! It’s such a wonderful way to take some time for yourself, which can feel hard to justify during treatment, but it’s so worth it. The practical tips are fantastic, and they really help you feel more like yourself again, but the support and connection you’ll feel with others in the workshop is just as valuable. It’s a little moment of normality and positivity in what can feel like a really overwhelming time.
Do you have any final thoughts or words of encouragement for those currently facing a cancer diagnosis or adjusting to life after treatment?
To anyone going through this, remember that you’re not alone and that it’s okay to ask for help - it doesn’t make you weak. It’s a hard journey, and it’s normal to feel scared or unsure, but you’re stronger than you think. Surround yourself with people who support and uplift you, and take things one step at a time.
Whether you’re just starting treatment or figuring out life after cancer, give yourself grace and celebrate every little win along the way. There’s hope ahead, and brighter days will come.
The following heartfelt feedback not only highlights the impact of our support but also helps shape its future.

This partnership marks a transformative step in delivering enhanced support services to those navigating their changing appearance whilst offering an invaluable opportunity to talk to others in a similar situation. Our shared vision, passion, and commitment to improving the lives of those affected by cancer have laid the foundation for this significant merger.
Mark Flannery, Chief Executive Officer of Look Good Feel Better UK reflects:
“As the charity sector faces growing demand for services amid financial and external challenges, bringing our organisations together allows us to combine our resources, expertise, and reach to make an even greater impact.
True collaborative mergers are rare in our sector, and this partnership reflects a genuine desire to help more people with cancer.
We are honoured to build on the incredible heritage of HeadWrappers and excited about the opportunities this merger will create.”
Cristine Benn, Chair of HeadWrappers says:

Future Support
The prevalence of cancer diagnoses in the UK, with one in two people receiving a diagnosis in their lifetime, has led to an unprecedented demand for our services.
We can only sustain our operations through the invaluable contributions of our trustees, corporate partners, fundraisers, supporters, and volunteers. There are numerous avenues through which both businesses and individuals can assist the charity.
Volunteering
Our volunteers are essential to the success of our charity. Whether you wish to apply your skills in our workshops or simply dedicate your time to our cause, we have opportunities available for you. For more details on volunteering, please visit www.lgfb.co.uk or email info@lgfb.co.uk
Product donations
As we strive to conduct more workshops, the need for increased funding is paramount. Product donations can serve dual purposes: they can be utilised in our workshops and included in our popular beauty boxes and purpose-driven beauty bags. These initiatives not only showcase your brand’s commitment to corporate social responsibility but also address sustainability and cost management concerns. Our 2025 fundraising calendar is packed with exciting events and activities, offering plenty of opportunities to get involved.
Highlights include scaling the O2 in London this March, trekking the stunning Jurassic Coast in May, and our much-anticipated Netball Tournament in partnership with England Netball.
Closing the year, our biggest fundraising event, the Christmas Concert, will take place in December. For those who prefer to support in other ways; options include participating in our lottery with a weekly £1 donation, our online raffle, or becoming a ‘Feel Good Friend’ through a regular monthly or annual contribution of your choice.
