Communication Sciences and Disorders (Speech-Language Pathology) 54-56 credits - Year 1 On-Campus, Year 2 Hybrid You’ll work closely with our faculty and clinical educators to gain the knowledge, training, and skills necessary to practice as a speech-language pathologist serving a diverse population of adults and children in educational and healthcare settings. Cost: $461 per credit hour (in-state) / $1,107 per credit hour (out-of-state)
Counselor Education 60 credits - On-Campus Tracks: Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling Our program allows you to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with the ability to open a private practice. The program combines counseling frameworks with real-world clinical experiences. Cost: $461 per credit hour (in-state) / $1,107 per credit hour (out-of-state)
Educational Leadership 36 credits - Hybrid (Face-to-Face & Online) Our program is designed for teachers who dream of being leaders in the field of education. Career and Technical Educators Institute
In collaboration with the VDOE, we offer the CTE New Teacher Institute each summer as a 1 week, 3 credit course: PEDU 437 Career and Technical Education Curriculum & Instruction. CTE teachers may also take our professional studies licensure courses to fulfill additional VDOE requirements. Cost: $285 per credit hour (in-state) / $355 per credit hour (out-of-state)
Educational Leadership Endorsement
21 credits - Hybrid (Face-to-Face & Online) | Cohorts begin each fall.
Prepares you for administrative and supervisory responsibilities, resource management, and program planning and implementation. Successful completion of the courses meets eligibility requirements for the Administration and Supervision PreK-12 endorsement. Cost: $285 per credit hour (in-state) / $355 per credit hour (out-of-state)
English Language Learners Bootcamp
Fully Online Are you looking to prepare for the Praxis 5362 ESOL and add the ESL endorsement to your teaching license? Consider our one-credit, fully online ELL Bootcamp courses. Each course is suggested for 30 recertification points. Cost: $285 (in-state) / $355 (out-of-state)
Gifted Education Add-On Endorsement
12 credits - Fully Online Learn how to teach and support gifted students and apply gifted education teaching techniques to regular classroom instruction through Longwood University’s online gifted add-on endorsement courses. SLP Online (Speech-Language Pathology Prerequisites and SLPA Pathway)
Fully Online These online courses are the prerequisites most commonly required for application to a master’s program in Speech-Language Pathology. We offer these courses each semester. Take the SLPA capstone course, preparing you to become a speech-language pathology assistant. Cost: $285 per credit hour (in-state) / $355 per credit hour (out-of-state)
Special Education Add-On Endorsement
15 credits - Fully Online Acquire the skills and expertise necessary to teach and support students with diverse learning needs through Longwood University’s online special education add-on endorsement. Cost: $285 per credit hour (in-state) / $355 per credit hour (out-of-state) NON-CREDIT CLASSES
LCSW Supervisor Training Workshop
Fully Online The workshop, Clinical Supervision: Critical Cultural Competence and Supervision in Rural Settings, is an online 14-hour training that is designed to fulfill the Virginia Board of Social Work’s requirement for Licensed Clinical Social Workers to provide clinical supervision to social workers pursuing their LCSW. Cost: $250 / $225 (Longwood Alumni)
Moton Museum Teacher Institute
Summer workshops designed to review civil rights, massive resistance, and desegregation histories in the context of the Farmville Moton Museum. Teachers learn classroom techniques including primary source analysis and research skills.
Teacher Recertification and Professional Development
We offer a selection of non-credit classes designed to fit your schedule with your budget in mind. Our non-credit classes begin at $99. In addition to gaining professional skills, this is a perfect opportunity to earn recertification points or continuing education units (CEUs).
Virginia Holocaust Museum The Alexander Lebenstein Teacher Education Institute
This class, offered by the VHM and Longwood University, provides up to 45 recertification points with sessions focusing on best practices and resources you can use in the classroom when teaching the Holocaust. Educators will have opportunities to explore and interact with museum resources.
