Before assembly the tubes should be cleaned in a rotational motion, with abrasive mat or paper.

An insert if required (see note) should be inserted into the inside diameter of the tube.
3)
The Rings should be removed from the coupling body and slid onto the tube with the chamfered edge facing the tube end, the tube is then fully inserted up to the center stop of the connector main body and marked with a suitable ink marker.

The connector body should then be removed

Apply sufficient Lokprep to form a continuous film around the tube circumference an the length of the connector body to ensure a good coating thus ensuring all surface imperfections are sealed within the Lokring joint.
6)
Re-insert the tube to the center stop of the connector and slide the ring on to the edge of the connector main body, revolve the tube/connector through 360 degrees if possible to ensure maximum tube surface coverage of the Lokprep solution.
7)
Position the tool with correct jaw size on the Lokring connector and operate the tool ensuring the tube remains fully inserted, until the ring reaches the center stop. Assembly must be completed immediately after the Lokprep has been applied
8)
The ink mark should now be visible at the edge of the main connector body thus ensuring the tube has remained fully inserted during assembly.
9)
Repeat operations for the remaining side.
Note: An insert must be used on L and ACR-A/D copper from 3/8” to 1 3/8” OD and any tube that may be subject to stresses or movement outside the normal functions of a HVAC system. Movement of the tube in the direct vicinity of a recently completed connection is to be avoided (if possible joints are to be made with the tubes in their final position).
