you and do everything within their power to get you to quit. That’s just the way it is. When I think about fighting the good fight, I immediately think of David’s victory over Goliath. You remember he defeated the Philistine giant with just a sling and a stone. Then he did something outrageously bold: He ran to where Goliath lay dead, put his foot on his chest, took Goliath’s own sword, and chopped his head off with it. Now that’s what I call a bad dude! Right? But that was David, because he was anointed to always put on a show. However, what he did after that is what really blew me away. In 1 Samuel 17:54, we learn that after David chopped Goliath’s ugly head off, he picked it up and began carrying it in his hand, boldly displaying it and parading it all the way back to Jerusalem as a trophy of faith and a testimony of his victory over the giant. When I read this, it occurred to me that it was not the lion and the bear that David slew in the wilderness that brought him from obscurity to notoriety; it was Goliath. You see, the lion and the bear are what God used to get David ready for the day when he would meet Goliath, and it is no different with you and me. I have discovered that if we’re going to do more than just blend into the wall of humanity, and in time simply fade away like so many other people do, we will also have to rise up in the name of Jesus and, by the power and anointing of the Holy Ghost, bring down the Goliaths in our lives. For example, I can still remember being in a life-and-death struggle with the Goliath of poverty. Do you know him? I do! I remember when I received the revelation that it was Goliath and not my natural circumstances that was standing between me, and God’s blessings for my life, family, and ministry. I can still hear the Spirit of Goliath defying me, trying to terrorize me, yelling at the top of his lungs, “Get through me and you can have the promise! Get through me and you can reap the spoils of war! Get through me and you and your ministry will live! Because if you don’t, I’ll kill you both!” I can honestly tell you that, 62
