Gender Roles Reversed in Shakespeare Under the Stars Shakespeare Under the Stars presents a gender reversed version of William Shakespeare’s comic battle of the sexes The Taming of the Shrew this summer. In this production, Petruchia is the driven career woman who’s used to having her orders followed yesterday, and Kent’s the smart-aleck man-child living in his parents basement. An Enter Stage Left Theater (ESL) production. Directed by Thomas Kee. Performances are Thursday, July 30 - Sunday, Aug. 1 at 7:30 p.m. on the Hopkinton Common in Hopkinton. Leading the cast is Olivia O’Toole (Petrucia) from Worcester and Alex Wersted (Kenneth) from Hopedale. About the Director: Thomas Kee is the Artistic Director of Deana’s Educational Theatre in Wakefield, MA, as well as a visiting Assistant Professor of Theatre & Dance at Bridgewater State University. In 2012 he co-founded the Island Shakespeare Company in New York City, where he continues to serve as the Producing Director. At Island Shakespeare he helmed a production of Much Ado About Nothing and Measure for Measure. Kee has also directed productions for Wellfleet Harbor Actor’s Theatre and The Vineyard Playhouse.
