with Tedworth Hunt member, Oscar Palmer and Two The Manor Born in second. The final race of the day, the Champion Headwear Novice 148cm Stakes was well supported with jockeys from the South East and it was a gratifying win for West Kent (Sevenoaks) member, Benedict Pearson and hi stunning mare, Mill Devino. The six-year-old had reacted in the Parade ring pulling away from her groom, but her focus was back where it needed to be as she raced home by a good few lengths. Benedict’s family bought the versatile mare from Scotland three months ago, with the intention of racing her. Initially bred for racing she didn’t make the height and had been in a show jumper’s yard for a time. Benedict spent the summer doing Pony Club and Riding club activities with the clever mare and they both particularly enjoy going cross-county, but now the focus is Pony Racing. Benedict said Mill Devino will have a rest, before coming back into work with the aim of competing in the Charles Owen Pony Racing series.
