ifteen year-old Stuart Hosiene made a last minute entry to jump Dé jà vu 2, the horse he shares with his father. This turned out to be a wise decision as he set a scorching pace to win the jump-off in the Very Novice Jumping Class at Sevenoaks Riding Club’s June show. The Intermediate Jumping became a family affair with only Emma Honnywill (Zigstar) separating the winner, Alice Burgess (Just Juice), from her aunt Sarah Burgess (Wolfgang Calypso) and greataunt Gill Cufley (Naomi). Sevenoaks has a lot of family members and mother and daughter Anna and Isobel Rogers were also in the ribbons. Anna Rogers won the Novice jumping on Cassie, while her daughter Isobel Rogers riding Tilly came a creditable second to Dani Standen on Oliver, in her first Walk and Trot Dressage test. The Preliminary Dressage classes were both won by Debbie Slade on Second Edition. Charlotte Payne riding Cahill Valley was the highest placed rider in the Preliminary 10 competing in the Combined Training class and a win in the Novice Scurry made her position in the Preliminary Combined Training unassailable. Marisa Turner on Danny’s Limerick took the opportunity of practising Horse Trials Dressage HN 1 in anticipation of Area 10 Horse trials later in the month. Her win in both the dressage and Novice Combined Training class should make her optimistic about her chances. Anna Hollis and Carnavel Pop produced two immaculate clear rounds to win the Open jumping, having stood second to Clare Scott on Millish in the Intermediate Scurry. In the Novice 30 Dressage Juli Southby was delighted with her win on Burt, who had been out of competition for most of last year due to injury. Maureen McDonnell and Evidence won the Elementary 44 again, Maureen also tied with herself (Evidence & Pedantic) for second place in the Novice Dressage class.
