SUNSHINE TOUR

The heat is on...

Sunshine Tour season is well and truly in full swing with qualifiers being held all over the South-East. Lots of people have been out and about enjoying taking their horses and ponies to shows and having fun with their friends and family at the same time. At the more ‘business’ end of thing, Sunshine Tour HQ has been busy getting ready for the championship show – finalising the schedule, planning the prizes, ordering in the rosettes and sashes and updating the website. We like the look of the new website – have a look at www.sunshinetour.co.uk and see what you think for yourself. Rachel Woolsey and Doylan Royal Annee

LJ Equestrian held its first showing show on 16th June with its new owners Jackie and Lucy Higgins. Judge and supporter Leigh Wilson reported on the show for us: “As this was the first show of their new venture it was eagerly anticipated and we all hoped for a dry day. With over 40 classes, most of which were Sunshine Tour qualifiers we were looking forward to a busy day and meeting lots of new competitors with their equine friends. The first class of the day, the Have-A-Go Working Hunter Pony class boasted a brand new set of working hunter fences so all of us were looking forward to the Sunshine Tour qualifier. The new jumps were obviously well received by the horses and ponies, the class won by Charlotte Davison-Inn on her lovely pony, Rosie producing a foot perfect clear round. The Have-A-Go Working Hunter was won by Emma Holder riding Pippa. The Condition and Turnout proved popular with a strong class of 10 competitors, after much deliberation the first prize went to Peter Williams with Vietta and second place to Rowan Bevins riding Farchynys Aled. But by far the two biggest classes of the day were the In Hand and Ridden Coloureds and with the Ridden Coloureds now being a new qualifier for this year Sunshine Tour our judge Caryll Overy had her work cut out riding all the lovely entries in the class. After riding all 12 entries the first prize went to Vicky Fisher on Jake and second to Kate Littleton on Friesian Lady. The In Hand was won by Callum Wilson and The Heartbreaker. Our fun showing ring was popular with some charming ponies and riders, the Junior Handler was won by Callum Wilson with Toyboy, Prettiest Mare went to Olivia Vardy with Llafar Loulablella, Handsomest Gelding was Maggott ridden by Harriet Davison-Inn. In-hand classes were well contested and Jen Baldwin was very pleased to qualify with her miniature Haysden Samber Tiddly in Cutest Pony. Equally pleased to qualify in-hand was Rachel Woolsey with her pretty coloured pony, Doylan Royal Annee and Anna Deeley with Achilles Boy. Ridden showing qualification was well received by Carlie Francois with Mr Ed, who posed for her photo with her dog! With some wonderful costumes in the Fancy Dress our judge had a very difficult task, after much deliberation the first prize was awarded to Imogen Nevard riding Billy, cleverly dressed as a beautiful mermaid with Billy being her under water scene. At the end of the day there was a Supreme Championship, which was contested by the champions from the day and there was some stunning horses forward for a monster rosette, kindly sponsored by Caroline Marsh of UK Rosettes. With all eyes on the ring we eagerly awaited the judge’s decision, the top honour went to Olivia Vardy on her lovely lead rein pony, Llafar Loulabella, the Reserve went to the traditional cob, The Heartbreaker with Callum Wilson and second Reserve went to Peter Williams with his Norweigan Fjord Vietta.”
