Phoenix Rises Coping with the COVID restrictions has been particularly tough for single people. If you, or your friends/family are in this position, then there’s a local solution to loneliness. The long-established Phoenix Club has risen from the ashes and is now operating fully again. This national organisation was established for friendship and social nights, and the Wigan branch is based out of St Wilfrid’s Parish Hall on Church Street in Standish. In addition to the weekly sequence dancing, members of the club enjoy days out, theatre trips and holidays. The sequence dancing events run every Saturday, with the doors opening at 7.30, and you are advised to bring your own drinks. Having a Ball Fitness and fun don’t often go hand in hand but a ladies’ rounders team in Standish is putting a stop to that! The team is currently open to women of all abilities over 14. If you fancy having a go, then the team train once a week on Wednesdays between 6.15pm-7.30pm at Standish

Critters are Coming! Enjoy breakfast with a difference on 28th October at the Wild Mint Café at Golden Days on Back Lane in Appley Bridge. ‘Breakfast with the Critters’ will consist of a breakfast and drink, plus a chance to get up close and personal with bugs and beasts.
