Knight added 15 rebounds, tied for the third highest rebound total in a WCC tournament game with Sherman Gay (2003), as the Lions dominated the Gaels on the glass 45-29. In addition, with a free throw with 12 seconds remaining, Worthy reached 1,000 points in his career at LMU. LOYOLA MARYMOUNT 71, NEW MEXICO STATE 69 Nov. 17, 2006 - Gersten Pavilion Loyola Marymount senior Brandon Worthy hit an off-balanced three-pointer with 0.9 seconds remaining (pictured above) to lift the Lions to a 71-69 come-from-behind win over New Mexico State in front of 3,570 at Gersten Pavilion during homecoming. Worthy led the Lions with 28 points as the Lions erased a 17-point second half deficit for the win. LOYOLA MARYMOUNT 87, NOTRE DAME 85 Dec. 12, 2009 - Purcell Pavilion Notre Dame, IN Sophomore Jarred DuBois took a perfect pass from junior Larry Davis with eight seconds remaining to lift LMU (4-7) to an 87-85 win over Notre Dame (9-2) at Purcell Pavilion Saturday night in Notre Dame, Ind. The Lions picked up road wins in both the Pacific-10 (USC on Nov. 21) and the Big East, and earn their first win over a current member from the Big East since 1988. Down by one, 85-84, the Lions’ defense forced a five-second call with 19 seconds remaining. After a timeout, the Lions rotated the ball and Davis drove the lane, dishing off to DuBois on the left wing. With a defender charging, DuBois buried his fourth three-pointer of the game for the win. “This is the biggest win of our careers at LMU,” said DuBois, who finished with 12 points. Notre Dame entered the contest with just one loss on the year and had not lost a non-conference game at home in five seasons. LOYOLA MARYMOUNT 74, NO. 9 GONZAGA 66 Feb. 18, 2010 - Gersten Pavilion Considered on of the biggest wins in program history and the biggest at Gersten Pavilion, the Lions earned a 74-66 win over West Coast Conference leader and top-10 Gonzaga in front of 3,770 at Gersten Pavilion on Feb. 18. Gonzaga entered the game ranked 13th by the Associated Press and 9th by the ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ Poll. It was the first win over a ranked opponent since March 23, 1990 when the Lions beat No. 23 Alabama 62-60 in the NCAA West Regional on March 23, 1990. It snaps a 35game skid against ranked teams for the Lions. It also ranked the first ever win over a ranked opponent at Gersten Pavilion and the highest ranked team to fall to the Lions since 1961. In the first meeting against Gonzaga on Jan. 23, the Lions played without Ashley Hamilton, Jarred DuBois and Larry Davis. In the win, all three were among five players in double figures, as the trio combined for 39 points. Hamilton led all scorers with 17 points, adding six rebounds and three blocks. Drew Viney added 16 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season. Davis added 12, Kevin Young 11 and DuBois 10.Defense was the key as the Lions erased a 10-point firsthalf deficit by holding three-pointer at the the Zags to just 34.4 percent shooting in the game and just 25.9 percent in the second half. The Lions shot 46.6 percent for the game, hitting 6-for-12 from the three-point line. It was the Bulldogs lowest shooting percentage since Duke on Dec. 19 when they shot 27.8 percent.
