The main work on the program, Songstream, was written by Alice Parker, a composer whose life and work continues

to exert a strong influence on American choral music. Choir members Heidi Klein, soprano, will perform two songs by Lili Boulanger, and Gwynne Johnson, soprano, will perform two songs by Clara Schumann, accompanied by Elliot Figg. Also on the program is The Apple Tree by Emily Crocker, written for conductor Henry Gibbons and the University of North Texas A Capella choir in 1990.

The concert also features the winners of the Denton Bach Society’s Competition for Young Musicians: Denton High School student Andrew Chadwell on euphonium, Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science student Danielle Feng on piano, Creekview High School student Kelly Kincaid, soprano, from Plano, and Plano West Senior High School student Chris Lo, baritone. — Ellen Sackett
