The Warrior Legacy: Kylie Roekle

Over my time here at Lakeside, I have been blessed with countless opportunities to let my Light shine and grow my faith through organizations I took part in. Teens for Christ reinforced compassion, responsibility, and seeing people through God’s eyes. The National Honor Society and Student Council taught me commitment and time management. Varsity soccer showed me the value of hard work, dedication, and friendship. All these life skills I have learned, strengthened, and enhanced—through Lakeside—are priceless.

The teachers here are more than just teachers, they are family. My list of people here at Lakeside who have touched and changed my life is truly remarkable. Mrs. Lori Tetzlaff in particular has made the biggest impact on me. Over the years, she has gotten me through my highest of highs and lowest of lows. She has shown me love and compassion. She has provided a safe and comforting space to talk about the tough and amazing moments in life. I also had the opportunity to go on an Operation Go mission trip to New Jersey with her as my chaperone. That week spent with fellow classmates, Mrs. T, and the congregation who hosted us was one of the best experiences I have been a part of at Lakeside. Mrs. T is just one of the teachers here that strive every day to help students, to get to know them more than just inside the classroom, and to share the love of the Lord.

This fall, I plan to attend Martin Luther College for elementary education. I hope to embody the characteristics that I gained and learned here at Lakeside and implement them in my future classroom.
