Day 6: Value of Simplicity Habit: Simplicity It seems that perfection is attained not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to remove. —Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Terre des Hommes Be generous to yourself by living simply so that you have the time and attention to give to what is good for you and what is most important to you. When it comes to living simply, there are four areas to focus on. •M ind: A calm, balanced mind provides clarity of thought that will help you be more productive and effective in every area of your life. • Schedule: At the end of your life, you’ll wish you spent more time with friends, with family, and on hobbies, so create a schedule that focuses on the activities that are most important to you. •N ature: At first blush, you may think spending time in nature has nothing to do with living generously. But actually, it touches on a number of the generosity habits: physical health, mindfulness, connecting with yourself, gratitude (although in nature it’s often better-called awe), and most importantly, simplicity. • Home: Having what you need where you need it creates space for family and frees up time and energy.
