frankly boards

“Frankly you’re a bore” is an illustrated stationary set that has been made by taking words of a song called “I tried love”. I have taken part of the song and drawn child like drawings associated with the lyrics. The plan was to create a illustrated stationary set that looks like it is for children but actually for adults as the lyrics would not make scene for someone of a young age. I Tried Love Is the Richard Gere Gerbil story true? Who came third in World War 2? Did Sooty sleep with Sue? These things I think about, when i’m with out with you... What are the holes in biro’s for? Which one’s which in the Corrs? Did Geff Hurst really score? Cause frankly your a bore, and i’m not... And if it’s leavin’ season your second on the bill If you wont leave me baby i’ll find someone who will, I tried love, i’m sorry I tried love... Does God ever get it wrong? Where has Gary Barlow gone? Why is Christmas Day so long? It just goes on and on... and on, Like you. And if it’s leavin’ season your the second on the bill If you wont leave me baby i’ll find someone who will, I tried love, i’m sorry I tried love... Why is there ketchup on my sleeve? Do you think Adam fancied Eve? What if Eve could not conceive? And he had to breed with Steeve, We’d all be gay.

BRIEF 5 - YOU’RE A BORE

A selection of the illustrations and type that I used. I decided to use all hand drawn type and image as I thought this added a child like effect. I added the colours on photoshop.

From the illustration, I have made mock ups of products that adults might need, such as shown here. This makes it more obvious that it is for an older audience.

A website has been mocked up to show how people can go online and order their stationary. They would be able to look inside of the notebooks and buy items in sets.

I made two notebooks each containing the illustrations, one which was paper back and one which was ring bound. On every other page I have place the illustrations in one of the corners with the type on the other page. The other pages are plain lined pages without any illustrations.

As well as just making notebooks, I have been able to transfer the images and type on to other stationary products. Here you can see bookmarks and wrapping paper which both have a pattern of the images on.
