Generation Text lost little in defeat when finishing a close second on his only start to date in the competitive four-year-old maiden at Borris. Ridden by Jamie Codd, the son of Getaway was never too far away from the pace and still appeared to be full of running jumping three-out. The debutant showed a nice turn of foot after the penultimate obstacle, hitting the front on the run to the last. An untidy jump here did not help the chance of the â‚Ź30,000 Derby Sale graduate, who to his credit kept on well to the line, only beaten two and a half lengths. Trained by Denis Murphy, this good-looking gelding looks likely to enjoy plenty of track success in the future.

SPORTING JOHN (IRE) 2015 B/BR.G Matthew Flynn O'Connor looks to have a very smart prospect on his hands in the form of Sporting John who ran out a taking winner of the four-year-old maiden at Borris in testing conditions. Having jumped well in mid division, the Jimmy O’Rourke-ridden debutant caught the eye travelling very strongly into the contest from three-out. The son of Getaway found plenty for pressure when asked for his effort, pulling clear on the run to the line to win by over two lengths. This was a very smart performance in what looked a competitive contest and this nicely bred sort looks an exciting type going forward.

YOUNG BUCK (IRE) 2014 B.G Young Buck posted a very likable performance of his debut to take fiveyear-old geldings’ maiden at Nenagh. The Shark Hanlon-trained son of Yeats bounced out and made all the running, in a contest which clocked the fastest time of the day. Ridden by Tom Hamilton the five-year-old readily pulled clear from three-out and kept on gamely in the home straight, coming home an easy five length winner, with a further 15length break back to the third horse. A ₏36,000 store, this well-bred sort is related to plenty of winners and could well develop into a fine staying prospect under rules.

ENJOY D’ALLEN (FR) 2014 B/BR.G The Peter Flood-trained Enjoy D’Allen got off the mark at the second time of asking when taking the five-year-old geldings’ maiden at Tinahely by a comprehensive eight lengths. The son of Network made a promising debut at Ballinaboola earlier in the month, when finishing a fine second despite not enjoying the clearest of runs. Clearly improving from that experience, the €50,000 Derby Sale graduate was once again ridden by Jamie Codd in Tinahely. Settled in mid division, the bay cruised into the contest before staying on gamely in the closing stages to record an impressive success. Going forward this good-looking sort will surely win plenty of races for new connections.

MINELLA TRUMP (IRE) 2014 B.G. Minella Trump posted a fine staying performance to take the five-yearold geldings’ maiden at Ballycahane is testing conditions. The debutant son of Shantou always travelled and jumped with ease before making relentless heading way inside the final mile. Having hit the front turningin, the ₏46,000 Derby Sale graduate galloped on resolutely under Johnny Barry to record a comfortable six length success. It is worth noting the front pair pulled 20 lengths clear of the third horse, with only four of the 12 runners completing. This was a very likable performance from John Nallen’s charge who looks sure to make a fine staying chaser on the track proper.

From a family of winners, Patrick Turley’s charge looks to be a high-class individual who should develop into a very exciting prospect under rules.

Declan Lavery elected to keep things simple aboard the imposing debutant, who made all the running before easing clear of the field turning for home. From here the ₏42,000 Derby Sale Graduate showed a very smart turn of foot, quickening away to record a comfortable success. From a family of winners, this looks a very smart mare who could prove to be top class under rules.

The French-bred is related to both flat and national hunt performers in his native France and he certainly seems to possess a desirable combination of both speed and stamina. A ₏39,000 graduate of the inaugural Tattersalls May Sale, the daughter of Stowaway was never too far away from the pace under Barry O’Neill and jumped notably well throughout. Having travelled very strongly into the contest, the good-looking bay quickened clear on the run to the line, coming home largely unchallenged. Considering that this debutant was competing against the opposite sex here, this was a very likable performance from a four-year-old that should develop into a decent type for new connections.

JEREMY PASS (IRE) 2015 B.G Jeremy Pass was desperately unlucky when coming to grief at the final fence in the four-year-old geldings’ maiden at Ballycahane, as he was running a big race at the time. This was truly undeserved for the debutant, as he had jumped well to that point and was badly hampered when the leader jumped across to his left at the last. However, there is plenty of promise to take away from this performance as the gelding made smooth progress from mid division to come and throw down a strong challenge at the penultimate obstacle. From here the four-yearold stuck to his task well on the run to the final fence and looked set to run a big race when coming down. This likable sort could well be progressive under rules.

ÉCLAIR SURF (FR) 2014 B.G The Cormac Doyle-trained Éclair Surf annihilated his opposition in the five-year-old geldings’ maiden at Bandon, when coming home a distance clear of his closest pursuer. The French-bred son of Califet shaped with plenty of promise when third on his debut in a four-year-old maiden back in the Autumn. Getting off the mark at the second time of asking here, the bay bounced out and made all the running under Jack Hendricks, jumping well throughout. The result never looked in doubt from a fair way out and the imposing gelding came home in splendid isolation in testing ground conditions. This €44,000 store could well develop into a high class staying chaser under rules.
