AVON THE HEART OF THE VALLEY The Town of Avon is located along the scenic Eagle River. In the early days this area was inhabited by the Ute Indians who called this area “the shining mountains” and came each summer to hunt mule deer, elk and even buffalo. Avon, with just over 6,000 full-time residents, is best known as a gateway to the world-class Beaver Creek Resor t. However, this town is also called the “Heart of the Valley” for its geographic location as well as its strong sense of community. And the athlete in you could not ask for more: Skiing is just a lift away from the Riverfront Express Gondola at The Westin, or you can access skiing from the base of Beaver Creek Mountain Resort.
