aturday 11th December saw Clifton Walkers celebrating the end of another year of walking around Clifton and the surrounding villages. Our group meal was superbly organised by Jo, our Social Secretary and staff at The Black Horse, Ireland provided superb food and service. The event was topped off (excuse the pun) with a gift of a hand knitted bobble hat to each member, thanks Karen and Sue! Reflecting on the past year I’ve noticed how easy it has been for new members to get started and settle into the group. Despite the continuing challenges of Covid 19 during 2021 we managed to cover an impressive number of miles whilst observing the ever-changing detail of our environment, discovering something different almost daily including swans and their growing cygnets, sun rises and sunsets, cloud formations, fungi and more. Chatting as we go, no topic of conversation is out of bounds, but humour seems to be a prerequisite. Whatever you call it, walking, rambling or ambling, it sharpens the senses, calms the mind and heightens our curiosity.
