Our ‘Hanging Basket Competition’ winner was Richard Kilby and we were so impressed by his garden that we decided to showcase it as this month’s Beautiful Garden of Bedfordshire. We were treated to a guided tour of his delightful and prominent garden and whilst we took photos Richard explained all…

“I gain great satisfaction in the planning, work and the results achieved which also appear to give pleasure from the conversations and comments from passers-by.

The amount of time I spend in the garden varies from day to day. Probably two hours a day 24/7. But I make sure it gets any time it needs, whatever. Dependent of course on weather.

My favourite aspect of my garden is perhaps the bedding and annual plants, so the baskets and borders are my favourites, closely followed by Roses.

I never purchase plants or flowers online as I always look for quality plants. So I support the local garden centres, where I can see the quality and the true colours I require before I buy.”
