At the beginning of September, locals schools welcomed back children from the summer, but during this first week back, Morrisons also launched “It’s Good to Grow” a programme aimed to encourage school children to get outside and get growing, helping them understand where their food comes from and how to grow their own fruit and vegetables, helping them make healthier eating choices in the future. The programme offers our local lower schools the ability to claim for a number of different gardening products from small hand tools to shelving units, to a variety of seeds, to grow tunnels and small animal houses. But they can’t do any of that without your help. The programme is a token-based scheme that allows our ‘My Morrisons’ customers to collect virtual Grow Tokens every time they swipe. Between 6th September until October 24th, for every £10 spent instore or online, ‘My Morrisons’ customers will collect 1 Grow Token to donate towards their chosen school. Customers can select which school they’d like to donate to through the ‘My Morrisons’ app. Then from the 1st of November, schools can start redeeming their Grow Tokens against a wide variety of gardening equipment. So far, we have seven local lower schools that have signed up for the programme, so please be encouraged to get involved with them and the children. If you can’t find your local school when you login on the app, this means that they haven’t registered yet, but you can register their interest at www.itsgoodtogrow. co.uk or ask the school to register so you can donate. For more information about the programme please visit www.itsgoodtogrow.co.uk and visit the FAQ page. And don’t forget to sign up to be a ‘My Morrisons’ customer and download the app to get winvolved!

I’m really looking forward to visiting our local lower schools next spring to see what they get up to, so please encourage as many people as you can to get donating. If this year is a success, then hopefully we can offer it up to other schools and community groups in the future!
