Chatsworth is high on the ‘to do’ list when visiting country houses in England. Renowned as being one of the finest country estates to visit in the UK, Chatsworth House, with its 105-acre garden attracts many visitors, from global origins, throughout the year. Chatsworth House is the seat of the Duke of Devonshire and this stately residence has been home to the Cavendish family since 1549. Located on the east bank of the River Derwent, in Derbyshire’s Peak District, close to Chesterfield and Bakewell, the magnificent property is surrounded by stunning views and countryside. With the House (25-plus rooms to explore, including regal State Rooms) and Gardens, Events, the Estate’ Farm Shop, plus Farmyard, Playground and much more, there is certainly something for all the family to enjoy at Chatsworth. Very impressive Works of Art and Sculptures, for example, hold much interest for numerous visitors.
Located on the Chatsworth Estate, award-winning Peak Ales Brewery produces real ales and gained much interest from the outset. The craft ales’ producer also offers Chatsworth Gin (40% vol). Following several years of experimenting and development, this small-batch gin utilises selected botanicals, from the Chatsworth Estate, to produce this high-quality, classic, London Dry Gin. Botanicals used include Chatsworth lemons, lemongrass, lemon verbena, plus banana leaf. The banana has an important and very interesting role at Chatsworth and the Cavendish banana is well documented in Chatsworth’s history. During the 1830s, Joseph Paxton was head gardener to the 6th Duke of Devonshire and introduced bananas to Chatsworth.

Chatsworth Gin exudes the crispness of excellent citrus flavours and, complemented with other infused botanicals, along with banana leaf, makes for a production that is wellbalanced, smooth and has great pleasure for the mouthfeel and palate sensation. Chatsworth Gin and Peak Ales are available at the Visitor Centre shop, as well as online. Orders are processed, then dispatched quickly and efficiently. Brewery Tours are also available – perhaps surprise someone special? For products and all information, please contact/visit websites: www.peakales.co.uk and www.chatsworth.org
As always, enjoy!
