TANGRAM THEATRE THE ORIGIN OF SPECIES… This uproarious, critically acclaimed one-man musical-comedy tells of Charles Darwin's revolutionary discovery of the secrets of evolution. Packed with fascinating scientific facts, terrible puns, brilliant physical comedy and witty original songs, this is an absolutely charming load of monkey business.

‘Remarkably inventive, thoroughly entertaining.’ The Stage: A Must See Show

A compelling and colourful Yorkshire farming saga, this darkly entertaining comedy tells the story of one family's tireless fight for survival in a changing agricultural landscape, over two world wars, generations of births, deaths and marriages, and a lifetime of farming. From Richard Bean, writer of the international hit One Man, Two Guvnors, this is a great play, vividly told and laced with humour.

KATE BRAMLEY & THE MILE ROSES WHISKY FIRESIDE (AND OTHER SONGS FROM THE ROAD) A fantastic collaboration of three respected solo singersongwriters: Kate Bramley (Jez Lowe & the Bad Pennies), Simon Haworth, and the honey-voiced Edwina Hayes, the latter numbering Michael Parkinson and Nanci Griffith among her fans. Performing contemporary British folk with a nod to Nashville, this is an evening of beautifully written songs, from toe tapping folk rockabilly to haunting ballads; of the road well-travelled, of heartache, and of single malts.

SARAH MCQUAID IN CONCERT 'OWDYADO THEATRE A VIEW FROM THE EDGE BADAPPLE THEATRE SALSA VERDE A smart-stepping new comedy with some sublime music and sultry dancing; the story of two love-triangles set decades apart, of a wartime dancehall tryst, and of a battle to win the heart of the village hall salsa dance teacher. Charming, engaging, with genuinely delightful performances, this affectionate and comic play puts its funniest foot forward. Ages: 10+

1950: Charlie Daniels, a private eye hired by the seductive Elise Hillerman to track down her disappeared husband. Now: Charlotte and Dan struggle to write the new film noir-inspired theatre show you are actually watching. Influenced by cult filmmakers Charlie Kaufman and David Lynch, this deftly woven narrative of stories within stories is wittily and elegantly performed. And as fiction turns into reality and back again, as stories spin, fragment and entangle with each other, one question arises: whose reality is real? A little gem of a show. Ages: 14+

A smartly paced production of Dickens' unjustly neglected novel, this is a powerful blend of historical realism and 'grotesque' melodrama, a gothic tale of murder, mystery, riots, abduction, retribution, strange secrets and ghosts. Brought to the stage by a great ensemble, brilliantly directed and superbly acted, this is triumphant high drama; dynamic, powerful and highly enjoyable. Ages: 13+

SARAH MOULE LADY BE GOOD! THE ELLA FITZGERALD SONGBOOK 'A first-rate set ' (Sunday Times) marking the centenary of the first lady of song, the incomparable Ella Fitzgerald. Exquisite interpretations of some of the greatest songs of the 20th Century are here performed with exuberance, style and wit by two of the UK's top jazz-cabaret performers, the truly stunning singer Sarah Moule and superlative pianist Simon Wallace. ★★★★★

‘Outstanding interpretations… Moule's voice is cool, elegant. Wallace's arrangements are immaculate.’

Performing live, this very charming and sophisticated acoustic quartet are a delight, with Parisian Fifi la Mer shepherding her band through a set of gorgeous café music; authentic musette, playful chanson réaliste, 60s pop and classic jazz, with a figurative fug of Gauloise smoke drifting above.

Pentabus are an absolutely fantastic 'new writing' company and one of British theatre's unsung treasures. Here, they summon into being one extraordinary day in an average British village. THEATRE CHIPPING NORTON SHERLOCK HOLMES AND THE CRIMSON COBBLES Murder! Mystery! Mayhem! Tender poignancy and comic touches of sheer brilliance abound in this hugely acclaimed comic ode to death and friendship from the highly innovative Tangram Theatre. Full of 'magnificently clever' (The Guardian) comedytheatre and threaded through with exquisite live music, this outlandish story of how one man gave his terminally ill best friend the full Viking funeral he'd always dreamed of, is remarkable. A splendid evening of gently quirky, expertly crafted songs – think Ray Davies, Squeeze – stories and humour by the self-professed originator of 'Victorian Pop'. With song styles varying from jaunty showground to slow lament, all carried forward by lilting melodies and warm, quintessentially English vocals, the bowler-hatted Mister Keith and his small 'orchestra' of multi-instrumentalists invoke memories of times gone by. An intimate little gem.

In much the same way as the brilliant Transatlantic Sessions does, Britain's premiere Anglo-American folk-roots duo embraces the shared heritage of country and Celtic music, with James Hickman's emotive, soaring vocals, driving guitar and lively English wit set against Dan Cassidy's virtuosic fiddling and bone-dry American drawl. An evening of classy and exquisite musicianship.
