10TH NATIONAL SESSION OF EYP LATVIA RIGA, JULY 4-9, 2012 10th National Session of EYP Latvia TeNS is a jubilee session. Even more, whole EYP celebrates 25 year anniversary in 2012. The purpose of these kind of events is usually to celebrate, reflect and contemplate the future. Though TeNS will include all of these elements, a special emphasis will be put on preparing for what is ahead. Powered by the session’s motto Rainis’s “Pastaves, kas parvertisies”, TeNS will be the opportunity for bringing out the greatest of EYP in new and better ways.

Dear soon to be friends, less than two months separate us from EYP Latvia's 10th National Session (TeNS). On our side, I assure you preparations are undergoing full speed ahead with our main concern being to provide you with a meaningful, unforgettable and exciting first adventure in EYP. "Pastāvēs, kas pārvērtīsies" will be our guiding motto for the session. Everyone thinks of changing the world, but few realise that in order for this to be achieved, it takes each individual's step forward. Same actions will lead to the same results. This is the challenge we'll be trusting you with. Debating current affaires of intrest for the social community and proposing ideas that YOU can implement. It is of course easy to analyse the flaws of current systems and processes, waiting for institutions to act on them and propose ways to do so. But your ideas are useless if not used. Remember - as Goethe said, ''Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius and power and magic in it''.

Whatever you think EYP is about now, trust me - it's not that. And regardeless of how people might have tried to describe it to you, it's not that either. EYP and the experience you can live in a EYP event are not something to be put in words. It's something you feel on your own skin and somehow, any word used to express that feeling, takes away from the magic of that feeling. My biggest advice to you is to pack your energy, enthusiasm and open-mindness. Get ready to be suprised. Get ready to be impressed. Get ready for a life changing experience! I'll see you there! Maria Manolescu President of the session

4

Dear delegates and other session participants, TeNS sends a message; provides you with an answer to a question you as of yet have not asked. The session is a product of an idea, support and effort and these three pillars to us are determining also for you. We want to recall the words of those who are long gone, hear their legacy, step in their steps and imagine a world we cannot possibly imagine only to say ‘thank you’ to them and move on. Be grateful but more importantly be critical. Do not accept anything as given, create from a scratch and similarly as the text in this booklet flows out from the frames, be daring enough to go over the brim of your own thoughts. In this session the old meets the new and the new takes over and the new will soon be the old. On a different note, this session is also going to be pretty great due to the fact that we will be sleeping in a 4* hotel, have fun at the beach and make our nights go wilder than our days. If you see someone – make your move. Life is too short to play it cool. We want you to laugh about failures but if you do it then have the courtesy to laugh together with the one who failed, we want you to talk about things over which you have no clue about but you pretend as if you do, in fact we want you to discover that the level of knowledge you possess is so little you have to be embarassed. TeNS wants you to Talk and talk so much that by the end of the session you are drained out and no words can possibly enter your brain. Make sure that your stay in a 4* hotel with people you will like is deserved and that will make our effort worthwhile. Peace and love, Ugis and Andris whose motto of the session is to make the shop come to us rather than us going to the shop.

In the spirit of talks, we are going to break the framework of an EYP session and give ourselves an evening devoted to “ . TED is a nonprofit organization that started in California 26 years ago as a four-day conference. The world's leading thinkers and doers are asked to give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes. TED is now a platform and a global movement focused on meaningful change through the power of ideas. Talks are then made available, free, at TED.com. Your presentation should consist of a speech (up to 10 min long) plus a visual presentation. This is again an amazing opportunity to step on a stage and give your ideas an excellent audience. The range of topics and presentations is infinite, however, the subject should be somewhat inspired by the theme of the session. A view in the future with the critical comprehension of the past. While we are awaiting for any advance on the Project ‘Rail Baltica’, it is possible to travel to Latvia by coach. Some of the other major coach connections to the Riga International Coach Terminal (Rigas Starptautiska Autoosta) are from Warsaw, Poland, Vilnus, Lithuania and Tallin, Estonia. More information can be found at http://159.148.86.166/

Another easy way to travel to Latvia is via air. The destination to look out for is Riga International Airport (RIX), which connect the capital to 78 different destinations in the world. It is a short ride away from the city centre and can be reached using public buses. We would advise checking out Ryanair for low budget-friendly prices.
