IN MEMORIAM hearts with her charming smile and laughing eyes. She was the happiest, most easy-going baby ever, and much loved by her family. She is survived by her 2½ year old brother and best friend, Carter Brooks Madigan; her loving parents, Maile and Daniel Madigan, formerly of Santa Rosalia, Mexico and Norwich, Vt; her grandparents Peter and Debbie Carter of Norwich, Vt; the late James D. Madigan III of Garden City, NY; and Patricia Madigan Yates and James Yates of Hempstead, NY; as well as her five aunts who loved her greatly. We will all deeply miss those chubby cheeks and that beautiful smile. Lia’s spirit lives on in her heart valves which were successfully transplanted into an ailing infant’s heart. Although we grieve deeply for our loss, we hope that another family will have joy and love in their child who has been given a new chance at life. A service was held on Saturday, Oct. 6 at Camp Onaway, Hebron, N.H. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Lia’s honor may be made to the Lia James Madigan Fund, established to support and try to make life a little easier for a chronically ill child. Donations to the fund may be sent to Maile and Daniel Madigan, 50 Watertown St. #305, Watertown, MA 02472.
