NATIONAL SKILLS AUTHORITY AND MQA CONSULTATIVE ENGAGEMENT

The MQA had the pleasure of hosting the National Skills Authority (NSA) delegation, on 08 March 2023. This session was part of the NSA’s planned process of undertaking engagements with all SETAs for the 2022/2023 financial year. The session was held at Sunnyside Park Hotel in Parktown.

In fulfilment of the above mandate and in the quest to have direct engagement with the SETAs, the NSA convenes an inclusive meeting with all the SETA Boards once or twice a year. This is done with the aim of fostering a deeper understanding of maturity of governance, progress in performance against priorities as well as to understand any challenges that may be faced by the SETA in executing its mandate. As guided by the Skills Development Act (SDA) 97 of 1998.; the NSA engagement was based on the following areas:

• Skills Development policy matters

• National Skills Development Strategy

• Sector Skills Plan (achievements and challenges)

• Governance Matters (success and challenges)

The MQA was honoured to host the NSA delegation and share its mandate related information, for the betterment of serving the South African society with mining and minerals related skills development.
