HOLIDAY THRIVING TIPS The holiday season can be stressful, so we asked Lori and our Lite Pink investors to provide their best tips for thriving during the holidays!
TIPS FOR THRIVING WITH THE FAMILY 1. Try planning in extra movement by doing walks around the neighborhood to look at holiday decorations. We love doing this! 2. Baking healthy treats as a family. For my healthy holiday treat recipes, click HERE. 3. Kids Yoga: Bella and I have so much fun rolling out the yoga mats and doing yoga together. She works on her breathing and patience while I work on my form. Some days it lasts more than others with a toddler, but it’s fun to do together.

FRIEND DATE One way I stay on track with my wellness goals during extra busy seasons like the holidays is scheduling workouts with friends! It might sound simple, but having the accountability of others helps me stick to the habits that I know will make me feel my best.

SETTING YOUR HOLIDAY BUDGET The holidays may feel magical, but you should still start with a realistic budget. The best indication of what your holiday spending should be this year is determined by what you spent last year and deciding if you felt overextended or if you can set the same budget for this year. Check last year’s bank statements for purchases you made from November 20th – December 31st, 2020. Tally it up and add at least $200 for all the small things we know you’re going to forget. This number should be your starting point for setting a realistic holiday budget.

INGREDIENTS (SERVES 1): • 3 OZ. UNSWEETENED CRANBERRY JUICE • JUICE FROM HALF A LIME • 3 SLICES OF GINGER • 5 MINT LEAVES • TOP WITH GINGER BEER GARNISH: • FRESH MINT

Roasted Cauliflower Bites MAKES ABOUT 4 SERVINGS R E C I P E BY B RO O K LY N S U P P E R , @ B RO O K LY N S U P P E R
INGREDIENTS:
BUTTERMILK DIP:
• 1 head cauliflower core removed and cut
• 1/2 head roasted garlic
into bite-sized florets
• 1/2 cup mayo
• 2 large eggs
• 1/4 cup buttermilk
• 1/2 cup milk
• 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
• 1 cup Panko Crispy Breadcrumbs
• 1 tablespoon minced parsley
• 1/2 cup grated Parmesan
• 1 tablespoon minced chives
• 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
• fresh ground pepper
• 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper • zest of 1 lemon • 1 head garlic root end trimmed • 1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil plus a drizzle more • minced parsley and chives to finish

HOLIDAY TIP! When you’re going to a party and you want to make sure you have something healthy to eat, bring your own healthy side. This will look like a kind gesture to the host, while also ensuring you take care of yourself!
METHOD: 1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. 2. Break or cut cauliflower into florets and set aside. 3. In a large bowl, whisk to combine eggs and milk. 4. In a large, shallow bowl, fold together Plain Panko Crispy Breadcrumbs, Parmesan, mustard, onion, and garlic powder, sea salt, lemon zest, and pepper. 5. Working quickly, dip a few florets at a time in the egg mixture, let some of the mixture drip off, cover all sides into panko mixture, and set carefully on the prepared wire rack or baking pan. Repeat for all the florets. 6. Set out a large square of foil, drizzle with 1 teaspoon olive oil, place trimmed garlic in oil, and seal foil packet up tight. Set on baking sheet with cauliflower. 7. Slide into oven and bake 15 minutes. Carefully flip florets (a bit of the panko mixture will stick – don’t worry about it), slide back into oven, and bake another 15 - 20 minutes or until florets are a rich golden hue. 8. After 25 minutes, pull out garlic packet and carefully check that it’s cooked through. Garlic cook times vary according to size. Once cooked (garlic should be golden and very soft), unwrap, and squeeze out about half the cloves. Mash cloves with a fork, then whisk in lemon juice, followed by mayo, buttermilk, and herbs. Add sea salt to taste. 9. Sprinkle cauliflower with fresh herbs. Serve cauliflower and dip immediately.

CONVERSATION STARTERS We all know the holidays can be magical, but they can also bring on some pretty uncomfortable or, let’s be real, even boring moments with people and family members that you may feel you have nothing in common with. I’ve been able to create the experiences I want by arming myself with a few great questions for any situation. You can use these in casual conversation or even better, print these off at your dinner table, use them as place holders or put them in a bowl and ask that everyone goes around and answers one of them out loud. This has become a really special tradition in my family that creates beautiful and lasting memories for all of us. XO, Lori

TRADITIONS If your current traditions are causing more anxiety and bloat than you’re comfortable with, why not try to come up with your own? In my family, we used to sit around the whole week, drink wine, indulge in goodies all day, and overspend on gifts. When we realized the recovery from overeating and overspending felt overwhelming, we took a good look at what would make us feel better. That’s when we decided to make some major changes! PRE-PLAN YOUR FAMILY WALKS We get really intentional to plan family walks before the festivities begin! It’s so much fun to bundle up and take family pictures, let the dogs run, and somehow we always end up having a snowball fight. Some of my favorite holiday memories are from these walks!

FUN CHRISTMAS BRUNCH For nearly a decade we’ve hosted a Christmas Brunch. We dance, play games, sing off tune and go around the room sharing something we’re grateful for from that year and something we’re looking forward to in the upcoming year.
