EAST PALESTINE — The Salem girls and boys will be out to defend their team titles at the Columbiana County Cross Country Meet at East Palestine City Park on Tuesday, Sept. 26. The Salem girls have captured the county title the last three years and 22 of the last 26 years, while the Salem boys are coming off consecutive county titles. East Palestine’s Alexis Cunningham is the two-time defending girls individual champion. Salem’s Trey Double returns after winning the boys race last year as the Quakers posted a perfect team score by having the top five runners. The high school boys race will start 4:30 p.m., followed by the high school girls race, junior high boys race Morning Journal/Wayne Maris and the junior high girls race. Follow the cross country races throughout the season The Salem and Southern Local girls cross country teams take off at the start of the Salem Early Bird Invitational on Aug. 24. The Columbiana County Meet will be Sept. 26 at East Palestine City Park. in the Morning Journal.
