Why Should You Habit Track?

Photo by Isaac Smith on Unsplash Here we are at the beginning of a new year. The last one left us a little bit wanting in many departments, and many people might be wondering how we can make 2021 just a little bit brighter. Many of us would like to change some of our habits, but how can we do that? Whether it’s eating better food, working out more, or a little less binging on Netflix, you need a plan and that’s where habit tracking comes in. Creating new habits requires something that isn’t always easy to come by, discipline. When something doesn’t come naturally we are less likely to get it done, that’s why you need to track your habits. Giving yourself a checklist of sorts or using an app that helps you notate the accomplishment of a task, is part of that feel good moment that you’re actually taking the steps to reach your goals. New habits are always met with resistance and you have to push back until it’s a part of your routine and you won’t have to think about it anymore. It’s important to find the right system for you, whether it’s an app, a coloring worksheet, or a daily checklist. Seeing the tasks you have completed over the course of time helps provide you with a little motivation when the going gets tough. It helps you prove to yourself that you can indeed accomplish your goals, afterall, look how much you’ve done! Not good enough? Then put in the effort so after seeing your journal filled with writing you know you are making progress.
