Dr Douglas Gurr.

Director, The Natural History Museum.

Doug

Gurr

Dr Douglas Gurr was appointed Director of The Natural History Museum from December 2020. He is also Chair of The Alan Turing Institute and, in January 2025, was named as Interim Chair of the Competition and Markets Authority. Previously, Doug was Country Manager of Amazon UK and President of Amazon China. Earlier roles included the civil service, partner at McKinsey and Company, Director at AsdaWalmart, founder CEO of internet start-up Blueheath, Chair of the British Heart Foundation and Chair the Science Museum Group.

He has degrees in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge and a PhD in Computing from the University of Edinburgh, and previously taught mathematics and computing at the University of Aarhus in Denmark.

He is a former Scottish international triathlete, 12 times Ironman, keen ski mountaineer with over 20 first ascents, and an enthusiastic mountain runner.

Sarah has more than 25 years of experience in retail, most recently as Group Quality Director at Tesco. She is responsible across the group for delivering high-quality safe products, sustainability, agriculture and regulatory compliance, as well as working collaboratively to influence and drive change across the entire supply chain. Prior to this, Sarah held senior commercial and marketing positions at both Tesco and Aldi.

Bradbury has previously co-chaired IGD’s Technical Leadership Forum, one of the organisation’s critical working groups that is helping to drive change and mobilise the food and consumer goods industry as a force for good.
