THE BOOK/PROJECTS

Sikatack Panel Adhesive Helps Transform Lambeth Water Tower Into A ‘Grand Design’ SikaTack Panel Adhesive, the secret fix cladding system from global building products manufacturer Sika, has been used to create a striking external facade at Lambeth Water Tower – the landmark redevelopment of a derelict listed building transformed into a luxurious living space fit for the 21st Century. To create a stunning façade that would encapsulate the building’s extension, 5mm thick Alucobond ACM sandwich panels were chosen in an Anthracite Grey finish. Cladding contractor Paneltec Services Ltd specified SikaTack Panel Adhesive System to provide a durable, cost-effective and high performance secret fixing system that would deliver stylish aesthetics and reliable, long term performance. The Paneltec Services’ operatives applied a panel primer to contact points between the Alucobond panels and the vertical ‘L’ and ‘T’ profile rail support system. Sika Fixing Tape was then applied to keep the panels in place whilst the adhesive cured, before the cladding panels were installed. SikaTack Panel Adhesive has been engineered to be applied on site. www.sikaconstruction.co.uk ENQUIRY CARD/ONLINE NO 113

Pier Approval For Cultural Centre Access Southend’s new Cultural Centre has opened its doors to the public, offering spectacular water views through its glass façade. The centre provides shelter and a viewing platform. GEZE UK was commissioned to install a pair of EMD-F operators to enable access for all to the multi-purpose events space and café. With a nine metre tall fully glazed façade, the entrance is protected partly from the weather by a dramatic, geometric, overhanging roof. Combining a maintenance-free, high performance motor featuring low-wear characteristics, with state of the art technology, the EMD-F is the most reliable choice. www.geze.co.uk ENQUIRY CARD/ONLINE NO 114

Rainline Specified For Sustainable Social Housing Project

Gunwharf Quays Achieves Security By Design PERIMETER security and street furniture specialist, Townscape Products, has illustrated the versatility of its vehicle security system, CT Block, at Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth. Project managers, MFD, approached Townscape to design a hostile vehicle mitigation system which would enhance the external landscaping whilst offering PAS 68 security protection to the development. Another important requirement was the upgrading of the existing cast-iron bollard system, ensuring their heritage marine design was retained. Townscape designed a hardwood FSC certified sapele timber surround to encase the CT Block system to create a planter, complete with a planting membrane and drainage material. To preserve the existing heritage bollards design, Townscape created 35 Performa-Cast™ polymer sleeves, in three different designs, to be fitted onto PAS 68 bollards. www.townscape24.com ENQUIRY CARD/ONLINE NO 116
