Julie Langan (fiddle) Verena Commins (accordion) Pádraig Ó Broin (guitar) Thursday 11th August @ 8.00pm
Harry Bradley was born in West Belfast. With influences going back to traditional recordings of the 1920s, Harry has recorded three solo flute CDs, and collaborations with Paul O'Shaughnessy, Jesse Smith and John Blake. Joining Harry will be highly respected piper Tommy Keane. Tommy was born in Waterford City and took up the uilleann pipes in his 20s. His debut CD The Piper's Apron brought him to wider attention, as have collaborations with Jacqueline McCarthy, Tommy McCarthy and Alec Finn. And adding to tonight's mix is sean nós dancer Seosamh Ó Neachtain. Hailing from An Spidéal, Co. Galway, Seosamh has received both national and international acclaim and has performed with some of the most influential acts in Traditional Irish dance music: Altan, De Danann and Mairtín O'Connor.
Verena was born in Coventry, of parents from Ballina and Bohola, and Julie comes from Newport so both musicians have their roots in County Mayo. By coincidence they both ended up living in Galway where they played together frequently. Verena's accordion playing and Julie's fiddle playing have, over time, combined into a perfect musical rapport of 'tight and tasty' playing of the finest kind. They will be joined by Castlebar man Pádraig Ó Broin, a virtuoso guitarist who featured on that illustrious album and whose guitar style provides the perfect accompaniment.
