As a part of our Centennial celebration's, we are pleased to announce that the 2024 Grand Marshals are all of the living past Mayors of Lindon City and their spouse.

Scott & Brenda Cullimore

Scott Cullimore has lived in Lindon most of his life. When he was born, there were two wards in Lindon; the 1st ward was above the highway and the 2nd ward was below the highway. He is still a member of the 2nd ward.

His ancestors were among the first settlers of Lindon and at the time Lindon was called Stringtown. Brenda Cullimore comes from Oasis, Utah where she grew up on her family’s farm. They met at BYU at a Valentine‘s Day dance and have been together ever since. They have three children, Tiffany (Darren Walker), Cindy (David Mishler), and Jordan Cullimore (Natasha). They have fourteen grandchildren and one great grandchild, with one on the way.

Brenda is proud to have served as a mother to her wonderful children, but also taught school at Sego Lilly in Lehi for twenty years. Scott has served as a Justice Court Judge for the past twenty-eight years and is currently a Senior Judge working part time. Brenda and Scott served together for many years on the Historic Committee and loved to help with many historical projects. Scott served two terms on the Lindon City Council and one term as Mayor. They love the open spaces concept of Lindon and hope that we can always have that little bit of country feeling.

Larry & Linda Ellertson

Larry and Linda met at what is now Southern Utah University while attending school. Following school, they moved to Arizona where Larry worked as a CPA for Haskins and Sells, one of the Big 8 Accounting firms, while Linda taught elementary school. When their family started, Linda became a full-time mother.

They moved back to Utah in 1977 where Larry worked for Utah Power and Light. They are the parents of 5 children, 15 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren with another one expected in July. Larry had the opportunity to serve as mayor of Lindon for just over 8 years and as a Utah County Commissioner for 12 years. When the children were older, Linda returned to work as a school teacher. Linda has now retired and Larry is semi-retired while continuing to do some work as an advisor to Congressman John Curtis.

Linda now enjoys her quilting and book club activities and Larry continues to enjoy working outdoors and tending to his horses. In addition, they are members of the Lone Peak 4Wheel Jeep Club and enjoy off-road adventures throughout Utah and some surrounding states. They have and do enjoy living in Lindon with the many good neighbors and friends they have and look forward to the future of our great community.

Jim & Pam Dain

Pam grew up in Sanpete County and later moved to Orem where her family started Corbet Trailer Sales. Jim Grew up in Provo on the Edgemont bench and attended Orem schools. Jim and Pam were Junior High School sweethearts. They met each other when Pam was in the seventh grade, and Jim was in the eighth grade. They dated all through high school and were married on July 21, 1972, 52 years ago.

Jim and Pam always had a dream of finding and fixing up an old home. In 1975 they found that place in Lindon, Utah and started working on it. In 1976, they moved to their home and the work has never stopped. Lindon is their forever home. They raised 5 children, Ryan, Hayden, Zachary, Bridger, and Mckenzie in the foothills of Mount Timpanogos in this beautiful city of Lindon.

Lindon opened its heart and soul to their family and they have worked hard at giving back that love. Jim served in various positions of Lindon City government. Three 4-year terms on City Council and two terms as Lindon Mayor. Jim also served on the Lindon Board of Adjustments and the Lindon Historic Preservation Commission.

Pam and Jim are now retired after long careers at Alpine School District for Pam, and Brigham Young University for Jim. They love this city and the people in it. Their prize possession is a key to the city that they proudly display on the front door of their little fixer upper on the corner of 400 East and 400 North. Jim and Pam want to thank everyone for the opportunity to serve as part of the Grand Marshal team as we celebrate 100 years of the finest city in America.

Jeff & Karen Acerson

Jeff is from Green River, Utah and Karen is from Moab. They built and moved into their home in Lindon in 1992 and have loved living next to the most wonderful people on earth ever since.

After hearing from his church leaders that members should be more involved in their community, Jeff decided to run for a city council seat and served for a couple of terms. Jeff was then appointed as Mayor. A few years into his service as Mayor, Jeff received a mission call to serve as the mission president of the Italy, Rome Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Upon their return, Jeff was elected to the city council and then again as Mayor for two more terms. In 2020, during his final year as mayor, Jeff was appointed by the governor to serve a four-year term as a trustee for the Utah Transit Authority (UTA).

Karen worked as the director of customer support for WordPerfect Corporation. She helped to organize the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival and served as it’s executive director and president for much of that time. Karen has served on the Utah Valley University Board of Trustees, the Mountainland Technical College Board of Trustees, and currently serves as a board member at Brades’ Place, a nonprofit organization.

Jeff and Karen are grateful for their time here in Lindon and for the many wonderful programs and people who have helped them raise their six children (Mark, Kimberly, Lisa, Scott, Marianne, and Stephanie). They currently have eight grandchildren with at least one more on the way. They also have several unofficially-adopted children and grandchildren that have been welcomed into their home over the years.
